Haven Rewrites S6 E6 – “Snow White and the Good Witch”

S6 E6 – “Snow White and the Good Witch” When a young woman is kidnapped and given a trouble that terrifies the town Daniel recalls how and why her ancestor first received the trouble and uncovers how Mavis became a witch.

Previously on Haven
Haven is a town where troubled people inadvertently cause supernatural havoc. Detective Audrey Parker, her partner/husband Nathan and their friends seek to find and help the troubled and ultimately the town. Nathan has the ability to heal the troubled. Mavis, Audrey's mother and the leader of the witches who cursed the troubled continues to trouble people in Haven hoping Audrey will join her witches.
Nathan received the four person tattoo in order to get into the guard, which Vincent heads. Learning the guard protects the troubled Daniel, Audrey's father, informs them the tattoo formerly meant one was a Mavis follower.
Daniel comes to Nathan and Audrey’s door and tells Nathan he’s worried about Audrey becoming like her mother.

Teaser
In the early morning in Haven, at the town’s grocery store a van comes up and kidnaps a black-haired beauty, her cell phone falling out of her pocket as she’s taken. An older woman with a cane observes yelling, “Stop, Stop!” Turning to a young man she yells at him to help the woman. He ignores her whispering under his breath, “shut up old bat.”

Daniel, James, Nathan, and Audrey show up on the scene taped off as it is now a police crime scene.
After surveying the scene James goes into the store saying he’ll talk to the security guy about the video camera. Nathan gives him a nod as he and Daniel stand behind Audrey while she questions the old woman who witnessed the crime.
The old woman explains the model of the car and Audrey turns to Nathan and Daniel who standing quite away from her are watching her intently but avoid looking at the old woman, “Why are you watching me," Audrey exclaims annoyed, "don’t you have investigating to do?” She turns to Nathan, “Go ask the clerk what he knows about who she was?”
Nathan nods, “Yeah, okay.” As he walks towards the store he turns to Daniel. Daniel watches Audrey as he pretends to look at the tire treads.

They flash back on the past; Nathan and Daniel are in a coffee shop, “You’re worried about Audrey becoming her mother.” Nathan says expecting something more from Daniel.
Daniel sighs his hands shake around his coffee cup, “I know it seems out of the question for you-“
“No.” Nathan interrupts, “You’ve been right about so many things I can’t ignore this. She’s my wife the mother of my child. I’m going to do everything I can to make sure she’s okay. What can I do?”
Intently Daniel says, “Watch her, pay close attention to her, so we can see what damage has been done.”
          Nathan questions, “Damage?”
Daniel swallowing hard says, “I wasn’t there when she was little, in the most formative years of her life…to teach her how to love.” Daniel looks down in his coffee cut in shame taking a sip.

At the crime scene of the grocery store, the older woman continues to explain to Audrey, “The men had these strange tattoos on their arms a kind of Indian design like that man had.” She says pointing at the grocery store towards Nathan.”
Daniel sighs as if he knows what’s going on.
The older woman continues telling Audrey as if astounded, “They just took her, out in the middle of town as if no one was watching. And no one bothered to help.”
“We’re here,” Audrey says giving the woman a smile.
The woman smiles, grateful.

Daniel thinks back to the 1700s he remembers 1749 when he first arrived in Haven, with a pack on his back. He watches as another woman is taken in the middle of the day by men into a covered carriage. He’s astounded that no one will do anything and starts to yell, “Stop. Stop them.” Some men take him aside.

Act I
In 1749 Daniel is sat down by the man who took him in the town’s pub in front of Norman Crocker who demands to know what he’s doing in his town.
Daniel explains, “I heard you had some troubles. I want to help.”
Norman dismissive asks him, “What are you 18-19?”
“19.” Daniel responds confidently but not arrogantly.
“Go home kiss your mother and father don’t waste your time here,” Norman says and gets up from his chair.
Daniel looking up to Norman says, “I can’t very well do that.” Once Norman looks to him Daniel says, “I’m from Holloway.”
Norman sighs and looks to the boy with sadness in his eyes, “It’s tragic what happened in Holloway.”
Daniel leans forward, “I watched my mother get killed in front of me when I was 12, and my father die of the plague. I was always helpful. I simply want to help here. I demand the girl’s release.”
“What’s your name son?” Norman asks.
“Daniel,” Daniel responds.
Norman as if he’s already agreed to let Daniel help says, “This town is a lot more complicated than Indian attacks and plague.”
Daniel insistent says, “Explain it to me. I want to help.”
“Alright…that girl you want released, she’s dangerous, troubled,” Norman says.

Daniel sitting in Audrey and Nathan’s office thinks deeply about the past. As Nathan talks to Vince, Dave with him.
“The men who took her had guard tattoos,” Nathan says as if he’s said it a couple times.
Vince adamantly answers, “I swear to you the guard did nothing to order a kidnapping of a young woman.”
Nathan nods unsure whether to believe him, which is revealed all over his face.
Dave bitter says, “Of course you would tell them.” Dave complains under his breath, “Leader of the guard for years but he never told me.”
“Oh stop it, I didn’t tell you to protect you.” Vince barks at Dave.
“And now they don’t trust us,” Dave says.
Audrey leaning against the desk says, as if she trusts them, “Could you check to see if some of your members did this without your authority?”
Vince nods, “Of course I will.”
Daniel finally paying attention says, “The guard didn’t do this.”
Vince and Dave look to him gratefully and the rest of them are curious.
“Mrs. Ward saw the tattoos on their arms,” Audrey argues.
“But you’re forgetting about Mavis,” Daniel says.
Nathan questions, “What about Mavis? She’s not involved in this?”
“Her followers were the first to take the witches symbol and tattoo it on their arms as a tribute. You know this, you’ve encountered them before.” Turning to the group who has blank looks on their faces he sighs, “Oh, that was Duke and Sam.” Then he turns to Audrey, “But you did. In an alternate timeline.” Looking around he says, “Have you all forgotten the history. I wrote it in the booklet I gave Dwight.” They look at him blankly, Audrey looks down guilty.
Daniel sitting on the couch begins to tell the story and everyone listens intently; “I was fascinated to learn about the guard, those who wear the tattoos of the witches. That they protect the troubled.” As he speaks a story unfolds in flashback; “At first the witch followers wore it as a tribute, but when the witches were gone, Mavis trapped in the prison of her own making, they began to protect the troubles themselves for when she returned.” The images reveal the tattooed followers setting off the troubles, making sure they are active. “But as the generations passed their children began to protect the people who were troubled not carrying if the troubles were active or not, preferring not.”
Audrey reveals and it’s shown that Lin ran into them and they helped her. She flashes back to Lin being helped by the guard.
Mumbling under his breath Nathan says, “That’s very different than now.”
Daniel turns to Dave and Vince, “It’s a testament to compassion, no matter how much darkness there is compassion is never overcome by it. Your family is a descendent of the same witch that Jeremy is, that descendant led the followers after Mavis was imprisoned and now you lead the guard but with compassion.”
Dave and Vince sit a little taller feeling proud of such news.
Slowly James says, “Okay…it’s Mavis then why would she take this woman.”
“To trouble her” Vince says and adds, “We all know that specific people have specific troubles based on their psychological makeup maybe she’s targeting her for her specific trouble.”
“She never used to be so picky,” Nathan says as if he wishes for the good old days.
“Who is the woman and what is her psychological history?” Audrey asks.
“I have the video,” James says and pulls out his phone, they gather around. And watch as they see Jackie, a young sleeping beauty type.
“Jackie,” Audrey says shocked she turns to Nathan, they know her from a previous case.
“If Mavis is going to trouble her again…” Nathan says panicked and he starts to leave the office to prepare but Daniel stops him.
Holding onto Nathan Daniel says, “Mavis can’t re-trouble those you’ve healed.”
“Jackie wasn’t cured by Nathan” Audrey explains, “There was a man who’s trouble was to take other people’s troubles, he died with Jackie’s and it died with him.”
James asks, “What was her trouble?”
Audrey responds, “When people looked at her they saw what they feared most?”
          Daniel looks up surprised.

Act II
In 1753 Daniel walks around the town of Haven. Woman look at him longingly and giggle. Daniel, the ladies man, looks at the girls with lust in his eyes.
In the town’s pub, a woman walks up to Daniel and says, “Daniel, why didn’t you come over last night. I waited for you.”
“Oh Karina, a man’s work is never done.”
          “Maybe tonight,” Karina says desperately.
“Depends on how my duties go today.” He says as he takes his coffee from the bar and shoots it down.
He makes his way towards the stairs, the inn upstairs. A voluptuous woman comes down. Seeing him she smiles. As she walks down he walks up and whispers in her ear, “Last night was magical.”
She chuckles giving him the eye.
Upstairs Norman calls out to Daniel.
          Daniel looking up says, “Yes.”
Norman has a look of disapproval on his face as he walks him into one of the rooms and explains the situation, “The doors were locked and yet he was found dead, his face white as a sheet.”
Daniel looks around investigating thoroughly. Looking out the window he sees an older man and woman walk with a young sleeping beauty type. Her beauty makes him stare at her and instead of his lustful smile, he has true admiration in his eyes. It’s Jackie, the woman as if the same woman in 1753.

In the present Daniel walks up to and enters the Harold, where Dave is. Surprised to see him he wonders what he can help him with. Daniel asks about looking up some records for a woman from 1753. He lets him use Vince’s computer and the records they have. As Daniel sits down to look through the resources Audrey and Nathan go to the old woman’s place with Vince.

At the curb of the house, Vince and Nathan are both creeped out, “The old bat is the witness.” Nathan says in disbelief.
Vince as if telling a story relays how she used to yell at all the little kids to get off her lawn. Nathan nods remembering but Vince corrects him, “She did that when Dave and I were young, she must be over 100.”
“You can go in without me,” Nathan says backing away.
“I’ll keep in touch through the cellular,” Vince says as he grabs his phone and shows it to Audrey.
Audrey annoyed asks, “What is wrong with the two of you?” Giving them a look she walks up towards the house. Nathan worried about her wants to go with her but something holds him back. Turning around she says, “Come on.” Exasperated with them. Nathan takes deep breath and Vince walk up the steps.

At the entrance, as Audrey rings the doorbell Nathan shivers, “Oh for goodness sakes.” Audrey says annoyed just as the old woman yells, “coming.”
Inside the old woman apologizes for taking so long to get to the door, “I’m not as fast as I used to be.” She says and offers them tea and cakes, “I thought you might be coming.”
Audrey giving the tense Nathan and Vince a look like ‘yeah, she’s horrible’ in a sarcastic tone, takes a cake and says thank you. “We wanted to talk to you about the men who took the young woman?”
“Of course. I knew you would.” She pulls out a few pieces of paper with charcoal drawings on them, “I did the best I could.” She says.
Audrey surprised says, “Oh…” gratitude is in her eyes.
Nathan gets up ready to leave when the old woman starts to tell a story saying, “There was darkness in them.”
Audrey attentively listens and Nathan, uncomfortable, sits back down.

While Vince, Nathan, and Audrey meet with the old woman, Dwight talks to the men at the station, “Jackie is not to be faced alone, and you are to wear these goggles if you have contact with her.” Dwight informs them holding up a pair of thick goggles.
As the officers disperse Stan comes up to Dwight saying, “Jackie’s husband is going to be pretty upset.
Dwight nods, “James and Daniel are talking to him. James is immune so I told him to stick with Brian.”

James knocks on the door of a small house. Inside Jackie’s husband, Brian is frantic. Searching for her, calling people. When he opens the door and sees James, “No.” he says putting down his phone, “She’s not…”
“Your wife is alright…but she was taken. We think she’s going to be re-troubled.”
Her husband sighs and shakes his head, “No, that can’t happen. Her trouble…”
“We know.” James says holding onto him to prevent him from going anywhere, “We’re doing the best we can to get her back.”

At the station, Audrey gives the officers a lecture as Nathan posts the pictures the old woman drew on the wall, “We have until dark to find Jackie, that’s when they’ll trouble her. These are the men we’re looking for. Anyone who resembles these people question them. Don’t underestimate them, we don’t know what tricks Mavis gave them.”

Daniel comes in as Audrey is getting ready to leave with Nathan. He looks like he has a weight on his shoulder and needs to speak. But Audrey speaks first, “How did you know?” Audrey asks Daniel as she waits for Nathan.
“Know what?” Daniel says.
“That mother, Mavis was a witch?”
“I was suspicious after the child molester incident so I searched her things. He says and as he explains it there is a flashback. He holds the feather in his hand and looks through Mavis’ clothes and behind her dresser he finds a book he’s not familiar with. Narrating as the younger Daniel opens the book seeing spells and incantations he looks at the front inside cover where there’s a loving note written that says “I hope this brings you comfort” it is signed Melinda Ward.  “Inside was a name of a woman I knew. Crocker had used her to help with the troubles. So I went to see her.” Daniel narrates.
Before Daniel gets inside the house of the woman’s Nathan comes up to Audrey with her phone, a picture of the old woman, the witness, and Audrey. Daniel seeing it asks, “What’s that?”
Putting her phone away Audrey says, “The witness wanted a photo with me.” Audrey says bashfully putting her phone away.
Nathan says, “Edgar and Charles Pricket are first.” Audrey and Nathan head out.
Daniel stands in awe, he rushes into Audrey’s office and opens the file on Jackie, where he finds the address of the old woman.
Daniel approaches the house in the present and in 1754 as a younger man. He bursts in. The woman with the spell book and the old woman, the witness are the same person she’s simply older.

Act III
In the present Daniel bursts in on the old woman, the witness, “Why didn’t you help her?” He demands to know.
The old woman, not alarmed but calm, walks up to him slowly, “To whom are you referring?” she asks.
The scene flashes back to the younger Daniel in 1754 talking to the same woman, a younger Melinda Ward. Bursting in on her in the same house then, she is startled, “What is this?” he asks and puts the book of Mavis’s in front of her, “Why is your name in it?”
“Daniel.” The woman says concerned and wanting him to calm down but he keeps on speaking;
“Why does my wife have a spell book? I want her freedom. How do I get her freedom?
“She has to choose that Daniel,” Melinda says.
Daniel is torn up, “She is the one who is troubling the town.” He declares as if he knows it to be true. With the realization that his wife isn’t who he thought she was he turns to Melinda angrily, “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“I couldn’t. I was the one, the one who found her after, broken on the street I taught her magic to help her find peace. She’s like a daughter to me.” Melinda reveals, grabbing his arm she pleads with Daniel, “If they knew they’d kill her. You don’t want that Daniel, she is carrying your child.”
Daniel looks down forlorn, upset.
“The Migma helped me make this town a place where those she troubled could come and be cared for. I promised to help them.”
In the present, the woman stands in front of the older Daniel as he speaks, “You always said you helped the troubled. Why couldn’t you help my daughter?”
Scuttling over with her cane Old Melinda says, “I did help her, when she was a child, “I loved her, taught her how to be compassionate when she was young.” It flashes back to the 1750s and Audrey is in the cave blood dripping down her back. The woman, younger then reaches out to her and holds her close hiding her. Then she sneaks into her room at night and they talk and play games, “I told her that she had a father who loved her very much. Mavis caught me and cursed me a second time. You probably had to fight every urge to come through my door – no one trusts me anymore.”
Daniel looking seriously to the old woman says, “Thank you.” In a serious matter seeing the pictures of Jackie, the woman taken that morning drawn in charcoal he asks, “Did you know about Snow?”
The woman looks to him guilt all over her face.
Daniel is shocked, upset to the core, “You knew and you didn’t do anything.” Daniel yells upset.
The woman looking at his sad eyes clutches her chest, she is having a heart attack.

Meanwhile, Audrey and Nathan are talking to families of possible witch followers. Some of the family members, parents, brothers, or sisters, talk about how they are loners, had trouble in school, or never really fit in. There’s nothing to truly link any of these people to Jackie’s kidnapping and no real evidence that they are even witch followers.
As they walk by they see the paramedics at Melinda’s place and Audrey insists on going inside. The ambulance is there but the old woman is sitting up.
Audrey asks, “Are you alright?”
Melinda says, “Yes, thank you.”
The paramedics say, “We don’t know how she's okay. We should really take you in.”
Melinda shakes her head, “That’s really unnecessary, it’s hard to kill me.” The woman says with a smile.
The paramedic really wants her to get in the ambulance yet hesitates about forcing her.
“Are you going to poke and pry at me some more?” Melinda asks, cheeky and annoyed.
Giving in the ambulance attendant shakes his head, “No.” And he leaves. Audrey goes down to the old woman and leaning down on the ground with her, as they used to when she was little Audrey flashes back to when she was little. Looking to Melinda she says, “I feel like I know you.”
The old woman says, “Maybe in a previous life, help me up, darling.” She takes Audrey’s hand who gladly helps her and drops the subject of knowing her.

Later that afternoon at Melinda’s house Mavis drops by and the old woman sees her in the reflection of the vase right behind the sink where she washes dishes very slowly.
Without turning towards her Melinda tells Mavis, “You never learn from your mistakes but repeat them.”
The woman flashes back to when they spoke in the 1740s; Mavis is on a hill watching the town specifically Daniel and Snow, the dark haired beauty as they talk obviously getting very close to each other. Daniel ignores the other more voluptuous woman that pass by their path. On the hill, the older woman comes up behind Mavis and says, “Be careful Mavis.”
Mavis turns to her, “I don’t need you to tell me what to do anymore.” She says and smiles as she watches Daniel, “Don’t you think it’s perfect, the helper, destroy him by being his wife, the hellish wife, and get an heir out of the process.”
The older woman warns her, “This will not work out the way you think it will Mavis. Magic won’t give you more control it ends up controlling you. You can still give it up like I did. I can show you how.”
From behind the older woman is captured by Mavis’s witches, “We have a special curse in mind for you.” Mavis says viciously.

In the present, in evening at the station, the rest of the teams are stumped, they don’t have any leads on Jackie. Nathan sighing frustrated says, “We’ve dealt with her trouble before we can do it again.” Dwight nods saying, “We’ll have night shift look for her but we need you rested for tomorrow. Go home, kiss baby Danielle, and get some sleep.” Dwight orders.
Audrey and Nathan don’t need to be told twice as they head out. Daniel looks to Dwight, “I’ll take James through the forest, see if we can stop them.” Dwight nods, “Duke and Sam have also offered to help.”

At night Sam and Duke go through one area of the forest, uncertain of how they’re going to deal with the witches if they find them while James and Daniel do the same with the woman’s husband who thanks them for letting him come. Daniel admires him for sticking with her. He’s absolutely in love with Jackie, revealing he’d do anything for her.

That night there is a troubling in the forest, the witches gather around a troubling circle, Jackie in the center unconscious. No one is there to stop it.

In the morning Audrey and Nathan arrive back at the station where they see Jackie’s husband’s upset. As James gets Jackie’s husband coffee, Daniel reports to Audrey and Nathan there is no sign of Jackie. Daniel is unusually glum and Audrey asks what’s going on revealing she’s aware he’s been acting differently. Daniel reveals, “I knew her.”
Audrey curiously asks, “Who?” she sits down with her father.
“Jackie’s great great great…” he stops implying there’s a lot of them, “grandmother, Snow. I loved her.”

Walking outside with Audrey Daniel reveals “We courted in the 1740s.” Daniel flashes back to when Snow and he were courting in the 1740s. He would walk her to her father’s house and simply say goodbye to her there in love. A friend of his teases him about being the gentlemen now. It’s clear Daniel really likes Snow.
As the scene plays out Daniel narrates saying, “One night the witches got into her house and she was troubled.” At night Snow is taken from her house and the witches trouble her secretly. She wakes up in her bed unaware that anything was different.
“She was scared one day” Daniel narrates as Snow knocks on the door afraid, “She came to me for help, but when I opened the door all I could see was…what I feared the most.” He sees his father dying from the plague demanding to know why Daniel survived when he had to go through horrible pain. Daniel afraid he runs out the window. Snow sobs. “I was so afraid of her I ran.”
Daniel walking with Audrey says, “I never saw her again. I know now that Mavis did it to hurt me. In my grief she took advantage.”
Daniel in the 1740s is at the pub and drinking heavily. Mavis enters but he pays no attention and as he looks down she puts something into his drink. That afternoon as he exits the pub he sees Mavis for the first time and is mesmerized by her. She coaxes him into bed.
“She’s doing it again.” Daniel says, “I didn’t want to say anything because then she’d get her way.”
Suddenly there’s commotion in the station. Nathan calls out for Audrey.
James is in the busy town’s square where Jackie has been dropped off, a sheet covering her head.

Act IV
Amidst a crowd of people at a town’s fair, a van has dropped Jackie off, a sheet over her head. Everyone goes towards her, but James shoves through the crowd telling them to stop, “Don’t take that sheet off!” he yells but not in time. A mass of people have gathered and now they see what they most fear and they start to run trampling each other. Some even come at Jackie, but James is there in time to protect her. Jackie runs away and he loses her.

Marching into the station on a mission James says, “I knew she’d be dropped off amidst the largest group of people in Haven, why didn’t we have more units there.” He complains but the phones are all ringing, and while Duke, Dave, Vince, Nathan, Audrey, Dwight, and Sam are all there no one is able to answer. They are all taking calls. He looks to Nathan, who is taking a call, “Where is she?” Nathan asks.
“At the train station,” Nathan reports.
Audrey pulls James out to go with him saying, “Let’s go.”
Her husband watches from another room feeling helpless, Daniel with him.
Outside as they head towards the car James gets a call, he answers it without looking at it as he’s on his way towards the car. It’s Lyla his girl and she’s afraid because she just saw her x-boyfriend tattooed and angry with her, she didn’t know he was out (of prison). James asks her where she is and it’s not the train station but near the woods. He relays this to Audrey who drives her car.

Audrey and James arrive at the entrance to the woods they can’t go into the woods with the car so they get out on foot and start walking. Audrey reports to Nathan who calls her to correct her location too says, “We know.” And “We’re heading into the woods.”
Nathan alarmed for her safety says it out loud, “You’re heading into the woods.”
Daniel in the station overhears and is worried.
Jackie’s husband is more worried he can’t fight back the urge to keep looking for her, “I need to go to her.” He says, “I can fight it this time. I know what I’m dealing with.”
Sam doesn’t like that idea and Daniel flashes back to his conversation with Norman after Snow was troubled. Daniel wanted to go after her but Norman wouldn’t let him telling him to let it go, “She’s gone.”
In the present Daniel refuses to do this, he agrees to go with Brain against Sam’s advice.
On their way out Daniel asks Brian where she might go.
Brian reveals that there’s a cabin that her father’s family used to own now it’s a ranger station.
Daniel says, “I know where it is.”
They head out.

Act V
Nathan reports to Audrey that Daniel is heading out to the forest. Audrey is worried about them saying, “He doesn’t have any protection. If he runs into Mavis…” Just then Audrey and James are slowly surrounded by the witches. Mavis appears last.
Mavis slowly steps up to Audrey as if seeking her attention. As she does Audrey speaking into her cell says to Nathan, “I have to go.” And slowly hangs up the phone placing it back on her belt.
“It is nice of you to come.” Mavis says, adding, “Daughter.” As if she cares for her but there is no love in her eyes. The title implies more that Audrey should be subservient rather than any title indicating an affectionate link.
“Mavis,” Audrey says, refusing to call her mother since there is no affection between them. Audrey attempts to keep a stern face of defiance.
Mavis smiles, “You have changed since we last saw each other.” Mavis says as she walks around Audrey looking her over.
Audrey unable to keep her stern face, starting to shake in fear lowers her head and says under her breath, “Mother.” As if she’s calling out to be comforted, wanting someone to show compassion.
James looks to Audrey knowing she’s in trouble he calls out, “Mother.”
But she is too distracted by her own fear to notice. Even her phone ringing doesn’t distract her. Nathan is calling.

At the police station Nathan is panicked, “She’s not picking up.”
Sam entering the office says, “She could be busy with Jackie.”
Looking to Sam Nathan asks, “Why aren’t you with Brian?”
Sam surprised Nathan doesn’t know says, “They left.”
As Nathan gives her a blank look as to who they are Sam says, “Daniel and Brian.”
“They’re together. I thought it was just Daniel.” Nathan says surprised.
Sam nods, “They’re going after Jackie, said something about a ranger station cabin.”
Nathan nods, “I know where that is.” Grabbing his coat and pausing to grab some goggles Nathan takes off.

Meanwhile, in the forest, Daniel and Brian are able to pull up with Brian’s motorcycle directly to the cabin.
Jackie inside, seeing them come up is panicked. She quickly tries to put furniture in front of the door but the furniture is bolted to the floor.
Brain knocks on the door, “Jackie!”
Jackie leaning against the door, to prevent people from entering says, “Leave. Just leave Brian. You can’t love me like this.” She yells attempting to keep the door closed. Locked, the door doesn’t budge.
Outside Brian turns to Daniel, “There’s another door around back.”
As Brian goes around back Daniel stays in the front talking to Jackie, as inside tears stream down her cheeks Daniel can hear her crying.
“Jackie, we can help you,” Daniel says.
“That’s what you said before.” Jackie crying yells, “It just comes back.”
“It won’t this time,” Daniel promises. Hearing her sob as she says, “I’m unlovable,” over and over again he notices her hair through the window, able to see the back of her head. Knowing she’s not by the door he kicks it open.
Jackie jumps startled by Daniel and a pounding in the back (Brian attempting to get through the back door) she doesn’t know what to do. Daniel looks at Jackie and sees Mavis. As the pounding in the back continues Daniel fights his urge to flee as Jackie waits for his reaction. Daniel steps up to her knowing he’s speaking to Jackie, “You are loved like this.” Daniel says, “No one is unlovable.”
She hugs him happily, with her eyes shut buried in his shirt Daniel can see Jackie’s black hair, the same black hair that Snow had, Daniel with admiration says, “I loved your great great” implying many greats “grandmother. I never got to tell her she deserved to be loved. But she knew otherwise you wouldn’t be here.”
Jackie pulls away and smiles. Daniel still sees Mavis and just then, the pounding stops and Brian rushes in. Jackie waits to see what he sees. What he sees is his wife, Jackie, in tears her wrists cut. He runs to her, “Jackie, what have you done.” He says looking to her wrists.
Jackie calmly holds him, hiding her face from him, so he cannot see into her eyes (where the trouble comes from) and says, “I’m alright. I’m alright.” He looks at her arms and sees they are not slit.

In the forest with Audrey and James, James calls out to the petrified Audrey, “Mother! Fight it mother!”
Mavis smiling says, “You remember me now, that’s what’s different.”
As the other witches surround James to pull him aside James worried about Audrey calls out, “Audrey Parker!” And Audrey flashes back on her life as Audrey when she first saw James again in the barn and then when she saw him again in the coffee shop, after the barn.
James calls out “Sarah!” and she remembers holding James as a baby.
Calling out “Lucy” Audrey remembers James coming to see her as Lucy.
In the forest with Mavis and James (in the present) Audrey stops shaking, looks up to Mavis, and says “And I remember me.” She looks to James and suddenly the witches are in pain and backing away. Mavis especially.
Audrey stepping up towards Mavis who is backing away in intense pain, “You may not understand this because you never knew it but there’s nothing like the love between a mother and child.”
Since the witches have let go of James he walks up and grabs Audrey’s hand and the witches run at first slowly limping along and then in a blur.
“We have to find Jackie,” James says.
Audrey remembering Nathan called looks to her phone.
At the cabin, just as Nathan enters Audrey arrives after him. Jackie has a blindfold on waiting to be healed, Nathan, wearing the goggles takes them off, he can see her as her.
          “About time,” Daniel said.
Nathan, finally able to relax sighs and approaches, Jackie. Audrey looks on happily with James beside her their hands still interlocked. He smiles.

In the police station as Audrey, Nathan, Daniel, and James say goodbye to Jackie and her husband Brian as she’s healed for the final time Daniel tells Audrey there’s someone else they should heal.

They go to Melinda as she sits on her porch, Daniel and Audrey with Nathan coaxing him on as he’s tense entering her house (like before).
Audrey approaches her with admiration. Apologetic she didn’t remember Audrey and hands her a small stone.
The old woman smiles about to cry.
Seeing Nathan’s confusion Audrey explains as she flashes back, “When I was little, she would tell me…” The old woman as a younger woman tells the 2 year old Audrey, “If you’re ever afraid clench a rock and all your fears will go into it. When I see you again you can give it to me and I can hold those fears with you.”
Audrey in the present thanks the old woman.
The old woman touches Audrey’s face happily, “I never had children of my own. When Mavis came to me frustrated, unable to love a child like you needed to be, as you cried and cried as a tiny baby I was more than happy to help you.” Pulling her hand from Audrey’s face she looks down, “I thought that if she had you she might change, learn to love.”
“What happened to my mother?” Audrey asks desperately wanting her mother to be alright.
The old woman is touched by such sentiment, which she herself taught Audrey, the ability to love even the evilest person, “You mother was brutalized by her uncle. I found her in Budapest and took her in teaching her magic. I thought that it would help her feel safe. I introduced her to the troubling. Witches did them for the worst people to bring about justice. Mavis abused them, she had so little justice in her life. That’s no excuse.” She looks down forlorn about Mavis and then continues, “I gave up magic. Life’s natural justice may be slow but it’s more just that what we did. I saw that after generations of watching her trouble people all across the world. I came here when it was still a new world with new hope and the Migma helped make a town for people that Mavis had cursed, Tuwiuwok, Haven for God’s Orphans. Somehow Mavis found out. She followed and didn’t approve of those who helped, especially someone who had so little invested.” Melinda says and refers to Daniel, “someone who’s only major injustice was to himself – being too selfless. She sought to destroy you slowly and wanted a child to carry on her legacy so she thought forcing you to marry her would destroy you. I tried to stop her. She cursed me; while I’m immortal by my own coven, before Mavis’s time she made sure I continue to age. I’ve watched this town suffer, feeling responsible I was unable to leave and unable to die.”
Daniel interrupts, “You helped with Norman but why not now?”
“You don’t need me. You have Audrey.” Melinda says.
“We could always use more help,” Audrey says.
“I would be more trouble than help.” As Audrey shakes her head the old woman goes off into a story, “Norman knew about me, my immortality, my past as a witch, because the Migma did and his wife was Migma. But when Mavis discovered I was still seeing her daughter, she cursed me again so that no one would trust me. They tattled on me if I ever came near her.” She turns to Nathan, “That’s why you don’t like being here.”
Nathan behind standing away from her is not made more comfortable by her words.
The old woman turns to Audrey, “Would you and James visit me.” Melinda asks with tears in her eyes, she is lonely.
Audrey takes her hand and says, “We can do better than that. We can heal you.”
“Heal me?” Melinda questions.
“Yes, we can heal the troubles,” Audrey explains.
“Oh Thank the Lord Almighty.” She says crying tears of joy, “My prayers have been answered.” She says looking up to the sky with gratitude.
Audrey turns to Nathan and Melinda is confused as he approaches her but only for a moment as she says, “Oh, it’s you. I should have known.”
Nathan defensive asks, “What does that mean?”
“You are the man she loves, love heals all.”
Audrey urges Nathan to do it, heal her, and stubbornly he does what she asks and he’s no longer afraid of her. With a deep breath, Nathan sighs, relieved.
Daniel hugs Melinda, “Thank you. Thank you for helping my daughter. You won’t have to worry about anything anymore.” He promises her.
She calmly says, “I won’t. Now that I know you can heal the troubles and you are here.” She says turning to Audrey like a proud mother, “I’m ready.” She turns to Nathan and he takes her cheeks again, to heal her second trouble. As he pulls away the woman closes her eyes and a bright light appears engulfing her and rises to the sky, she in it. Her chair on the porch is empty. Nathan, Daniel, and Audrey watch in terrified wonder.
