S5 E10 "From the Frying Pan to the Hot Stove" Haven Rewrites

S5 E10From the Frying pan to the Hot Stove” – Sam needs to remember how she escaped the witches before the town of Haven turns against Audrey and Nathan.

Previously on Haven/Haven Rewrites;
Nathan’s Father, the police chief would have “Hot stove” meetings so that people could talk about the troubles around a hot stove.
Audrey’s Mother, Mavis, with three other witches in the 1700s was the one to trouble the town. She’s back, not having aged and has recruited three new witches who have been responsible for deaths that leave a fan symbol on their bodies. Sam was kidnapped by them and even though the witches are powerful Sam escaped but has no memory of the event.
Sam might be pregnant and she’s told Duke that if he continues smuggling she won’t leave him but they won’t have kids.
Nathan has healed someone no one can touch and gotten boils, yet since he can’t feel pain he was glad to do it.
Ben, Jeremy’s father has revealed to James, “I’m the reason, why no one remembers what happened to you the day you were killed.”

Teaser
INT. POLICE STATION – DWIGHT’S OFFICE – NIGHT
Ben stands in Dwight’s office with James and Dwight as he confesses, “I don’t remember what happened. I was drinking then, I’d blacked out. But I knew my trouble had overloaded because no one could remember that day. The day you were killed.” Ben says looking to James apologetically.
James sighs seemingly unresponsive to the news.
Dwight looks to Ben pensive, “I think I have an idea.”

FOREST - NIGHT
In the darkness of night in the forest three women and a man stand around a circle chanting, their faces covered. A teenage girl is tied up in the center, pulling at the ropes. A dark mist enters the girl and the witches stop chanting. The girl shrieks. An adult buck hears the shriek and runs towards her, mauling the girl and going after the witches, who flee in their speedy run—leaving only blurs.

INT. HAVEN TOWN STREETS - MORNING
The next morning James walks with Dwight down streets plastered with Hot stove meeting signs, ‘Tuesday 7pm at the Gull’.
James looks to Dwight, “How’s Ben?” he asks.
Dwight, not clear why James is asking says, “Fine.”
James asks, “Is he really willing to go under hypnosis to find out who killed me?”
Dwight nods, “The Phycologist will be here in a couple days and you can find out what happened to you.”
They walk into the forest to the site of the girl in the circle, it’s taped off in the distance. Daniel is there to meet them saying, “You wanted me here.”
Dwight explains “I thought you and James could be partners, detectives.”
He hands them badges.
Daniel nods, “Thanks. So this is our case.”
Dwight nods, “Yes, what do you think?”
James looks over to the site and says, it looks like an animal attack and turning to Daniel adds, “it also looks like your drawing of the troubling ceremony”.
Daniel nods in agreement and relays, “the troublings don’t always turn out the way they predict.”
Stan comes up to them from two worried parents, “let me guess.” James says. “She had a way with animals.”
Stan nods, “how did you know?”
James says, “there’s a pattern with the troubles.”  He looks to Daniel, “Animal attack slash suicide.”
Daniel nods, “Yeah.”
James pulls off his gloves.
Daniel notices some blood by the edge of the circle, “The witches might be hurt.”
Dwight offers, “I’ll check the hospitals.”
James says, “We’ll do it.”
Dwight nods, “right” Dwight urges gently, “We need to keep this quiet. If people found out troublings were happening.”
James looks to the crowd by the trail, and says, “too late”. In the crowd is a young woman in jogging gear.
Daniel suggests, “We need to find a way to keep them calm and with the witches out we need a curfew.”
Dwight shakes his head, “that will only lead to panic”.
Daniel argues back, “People are going to notice.”
Dwight nods, “We’ll find out if they do. Nathan’s decided to have a hot stove meeting.”
James asks, “What’s that?”
Dwight explains, “All the town is invited to talk about any issues.” As Daniel ponders and Dwight looks to him, “What are you thinking?”
Daniel comments, “That could go well or very badly, we don’t have any protection for them.”
James ponders looking around, “Maybe Audrey and Nathan have something, where are they this morning?”
Dwight responds, “Nathan’s on a bit of a rampage. Healing people that cause physical pain to others.”
James nods, “Since he can’t feel it.”
Dwight nods.
From the distance Zara, a brunet watches.
RESIDENTIAL STREETS OF HAVEN
Walking down residential streets of Haven Audrey follows Nathan, his hands still bandaged from the boils. Hives, pimples, a rash is also on his body. He walks briskly along the street.
Annoyed, Audrey berates him, “Nathan you have to stop this.”
Nathan argues, “I can’t feel it”
Audrey argues, “That doesn’t mean it’s not hurting you. Look at you Nathan. Your body can’t take much more.”
Nathan argues, “I can heal these people of their troubles preventing them from touching people. Since I can’t feel it I’m the only one that can.”
Audrey nods, “Okay, but please slow down.” Nathan shows her a piece of paper, “There’s only one more in Vince and Dave’s records then I’m done.”
Nathan goes around her as Audrey takes the piece of paper. Speaking to herself she says, “Until the Hot stove meeting reveals more.”
She looks at the piece of paper, “What does this cause the black plague.” Nathan walks up to a door.
INT. HOUSE - DAY
Inside the house Nathan sits with a middle aged man who is stuffed up. He sneezes. I’ve had allergies all my life I was in my twenties when I started giving them to people just by being in the same room as them.
Audrey sighs, “Great.”
Nathan asks, “They go away though.”
The man nods, “Yeah, it takes about 24 hours but my wife still left me. I suppose-” He sneezes, “I was lucky to get her in the first place.”
Nathan offers to heal him, the man is surprised to hear it’s possible.
Audrey asks him to keep the healing to himself. The man nods and sneezes on Nathan as he puts his hands to his cheeks.

INT. HOUSE NEXT DOOR - DAY
Next door a woman drinks coffee as she sees her husband working in the garden outside, “they’re never going to be just perfect hon.” She says to herself.
She looks up and sees a ring form around him, everything around him is turning black. She screams.
INT. HOUSE - DAY
Nathan and Audrey hear the scream.

Act I
INT. HOUSE NEXT DOOR - DAY
Sam sits with the woman inside, as she cries on Sam’s shoulder. The woman says, “But he’s a Driscal. They’re not troubled.”
EXT. HOUSE NEXT DOOR BACK YARD - DAY
Outside, in the backyard the man stands still in the middle of the garden, a black patch around him in a not so perfect circle around him. Nathan and Audrey stand beyond the black patch weary of it.
The man mumbles riled up, “This can’t be happening.”
Audrey reminds him as if this isn’t the first time, “You’re going to need to calm down.”  She asks his name.
He responds, “Login Driscal.”
She inquires what he was doing when this first happened.
He responds, “I was making sure the plants were perfect. They always seem to have some spots on them, dead leaves so I clip them to make them perfect.”
Nathan whispers to Audrey as he looks to the dark patch around, “and now the grass is all black.”
Audrey nods. She looks to Login, “Is that a fear of yours that it will turn all black.”
He nods, “Yeah, I just thought if I take care of them they’ll be perfect. I want to take care of them. But this can’t happen. I’m a Driscal I don’t have a trouble.” The patch expands as he gets agitated pushing Audrey and Nathan further away.
Audrey inquires about his life, “were you out of town recently?” He denies he was and Audrey asks if he went camping or hiking recently. Surprised to hear her ask that he responds, “Yes, my high school friends and I took a weekend trip. What does that have to do with this?” He says getting agitated the patch grows a little more crossing over the grass where Nathan sees a squirrel. He’s wary, as if the squirrel will die but it is fine.
Nathan crosses the line saying, “I can help you.”
Worried Audrey pulls him back.
Nathan whispers to her, “He only affects plants.”
Audrey tells him, “you’ve done too many today.”
Nathan insists, “I’m okay”. He goes over and heals Login.
The black patch disappears.
Nathan starts to fall week, the man and Audrey hold him up before he falls.
INT. HOUSE NEXT DOOR - DAY
As Login and Audrey help Nathan inside the woman and Sam stand.
Nathan says, “He’s alright.”
The woman asks, “What happened?”
Audrey simply says, “He’s fine now.”
The woman goes to her husband and hugs him.
Sam goes to help Audrey with Nathan, trading places with Login. She says to Audrey, “He was troubled, by the witches.”
Nathan says, “Yeah.”
They all know they have a problem. Their eyes reveal they know.

INT. NATHAN AND AUDREY’S PLACE - DAY
At Nathan and Audrey’s place, Vince, Dave, Dwight, James, Daniel, Sam, and Duke, and Nathan (who lies on the couch) stand around listening to Audrey, “Thanks for being here. We’ve called you here because we now know that at least 2 people have been troubled by the witches in the last three weeks.”
Daniel adds, “there’s probably more, many more.”
Duke responds, “How is that different than any other day. No one knows how many people are troubled.”
Audrey adds, “Login Driscal discovered he was troubled this morning.”
Vince steps up surprised, “The Driscals have never been troubled.”
Dave adds, “People are going to start to notice things are different.”
Audrey nods, “And with the hot stove meeting coming up people are going to start asking questions.”
Looking to Audrey Daniel adds as if asking her if this is where she’s going, “They’re going to want to do something drastic.”
Audrey nods.
INT. HOUSE NEXT DOOR - DAY
A man, Derek, pounds on the table and says, “We can’t let the police do this. Login was troubled a Driscal. Troubled by who, they aren’t telling us anything.”
It’s revealed that he is in the kitchen of sitting at the eating table with Login a man and the woman jogger from that morning. Login’s wife brings them refreshments saying, “Sam said something about witches.”
“Witches.” Kyle says shocked, “they’re doing the troubling?”
Login responds, “That’s why I called you here.”
Anne adds, “The police had an area of the forest blocked off this morning. I saw it on my run. There’s some weird symbols around a dead girl. It looked like witch craft to me.”
Login continues with, “We have to stop them.”
“I’ll gather some men together.” Kyle, the other man says, “We’ll hunt these witches down.”
“We should wait.” Anne, the jogger says, “Till after the hot stove meeting, gather all the intel we can.”

INT. NATHAN’S HOUSE - DAY
Audrey continues talking to Duke, Sam, Vince, Dave, James, Dwight, and Daniel while Nathan lays on the couch. “We need to be able to provide them with some hope.”
“People are worried the troubles aren’t gone.” Nathan says.
“Are you prepared,” Duke says, “to tell people that’s Audrey’s fault.”
“Duke” Sam says chastising him her arms across her chest.
Duke defends himself, “I’m not saying it was the wrong choice but they won’t be happy about it.”
Vince defends Audrey, “Audrey did it to get rid of the troubles forever not just 27 years.”
          Dave adds, “Nathan can heal.”
James argues, “We’re not going to tell people that? We know how that turns out.”
Audrey shakes her head, “No we’re going to tell them we have a way to get rid of the troubles once and for all.”
Dwight, his arms across his chest says, “It wouldn’t matter if you did, with Mavis continuing to trouble and Nathan only able to cure a few each day, the troubles could be more than Nathan can handle.”
Audrey steps forward, “What we need to do is assure people we can protect them from Mavis, provide them with a way they can protect themselves.”
Daniel blurts out the obvious, “They can’t protect themselves. They never could.”
James leans against the couch pensive.
Everyone else sighs nodding.
Daniel insists to Dwight, “we need to initiate a curfew.”
Dwight shakes his head.
Dave adds, “There is a rabid moose on the lose.”
Vince laughs, “that rimes.”
Dave chuckles saying, “I came up with it myself.”
Dwight nods, “Alright, for the moose with rabies.”
Dave nods, “That’s what the Harold will say.”
James removes himself from leaning against the couch and speaks up, “That’s not true.” He says.
Vince interrupts, “Of course it’s not true it’s a cover story.”
James shakes his head, “No…that we don’t have a way to protect ourselves. Sam did. She fought them.”
Sam shakes her head, “I was with Duke…love conquers all.”
Nathan adds, “We can tell them that.”
James shakes his head again, “No, before when they wanted you to perform the ceremony with them, you fought them on your own.”
Sam says, “I don’t remember that.”
James glances at Dwight, “Well luckily we have a physiologist coming in that can help you recall those memories.”
Dwight adds, “But she’s not coming till the day of the meeting.”
Audrey says, “We’ll have to make it work.”

Act II
INT. NATHAN’S HOUSE – KITCHEN – MORNING
Audrey is in the kitchen working on her laptop when Nathan comes in as toast pops up from the toaster.
Audrey turns to him, “Remember,” Audrey says, “You’re resting today, before the meeting.”
Nathan nods as he takes the toast and grabs a bite, “When’s the psychologist coming today.”
“You rest, I’ll worry about that.” Audrey says.
Nathan sighs, “Okay.” He backs away from her into the bedroom as if she’s a time bomb about to go off.

EXT. GULL – AFTERNOON
James works with cops at the Gull taking sound equipment off a truck and up to the apartment balcony.
James looks over and sees Zara in the parking lot. He waves at her and smiles. She smiles back and approaches saying, “Setting up for the hot stove meeting?”
James nods, “Yeah.” smitten he looks at his feet.
She asks if they need help, offering to provide it.
He takes her inside.

INT. POLICE STATION - DAY
At the police station Sam, with Duke close behind her enters Audrey’s office. Audrey is there. The phycologist, a woman in her 50s, stands talking with her.
Audrey looks to Sam and the phycologist turns to her saying, “I’ve just been hearing about how you all have had quite an adventure. You must be Sam. I’m Dr. Freed.” The phycologist says offering her hand to Sam.
Sam takes her hand and nods.
Audrey turns to Sam, “I have to get going to the meeting, but the office is yours.”
Sam nods. “Thanks, sorry I won’t be there.”
Audrey shakes her head, “I’m sorry I won’t be here.” She says apologetic for not being with her during the hypnosis.
Sam nods, “It’s alright. Duke will be here.”  As Sam clings to him, Dr. Freed notices he acts distant from her.
Audrey says, “Get us something.”
Sam nods, “That’s the plan.”
Audrey leaves.
Duke says, “Sam” nagging her to do something.
Sam bluntly tells Dr. Freed, “I might be pregnant I hope that’s not a problem.”
The phycologist says, “Oh, there’s no drugs or anything. We’ll just monitor your vitals. I’m glad I brought the equipment for that.” Dr. Freed goes into her large bag.
As Sam says “no one knows” Dave bursts in and asks, “Sam good I caught you…about the baby-”
Vince follows him saying, “that’s subtle.”
Dave wines, “We need to get to the Gull for the meeting.”
Duke utters, “Of course Dave and Vince know.”
The phycologist says “Of course,” chuckling she says, “I grew up in Haven.”
Vince excited to see Dr. Freed welcomes the phycologist back referring to her as a hot shot.
Dave eagerly says, “About the baby. The Harold was wondering if we could be the first to write an announcement”
Sam answers, “The truth is my blood work hasn’t come back yet, so I’m not sure I am pregnant.”
Dave and Vince are both disappointed, “Oh okay.”
Sam adds, “I wouldn’t want anyone to know till I started showing anyway. It’s hard enough being a woman Reverend I wouldn’t want people to think I should take my pregnancy off because I won’t.”
Vince nods, “More power to you.”
Dave adds, “That’s our girl.”
Duke is turned away from her. Noticing, Sam looks to him reaching out with her hand, “Are you alright?”
He responds immediately, “Yeah, I just don’t like you reliving this.”
Dwight at the door says, “We’ll only do what we need to.”
Dr. Freed says. “I promise she’ll be safe.”
Dwight looks to Dr. Freed, “Sorry I was late.”
Dr. Freed says, “No problem, we were just going to set up.” She turns to Sam, “can you lie down on the couch.”

INT. CHURCH – DAY
At the church Vince and Dave welcome people to the hot stove meeting and instruct them to get food and something to drink and they’ll start in about 45 minutes.
Nathan, still covered with pimples and hives, bandaged from the boils, stands with flash cards in a corner as if rehearsing a speech.
Audrey stands looking towards Nathan. She’s worried. Daniel notices and leans over to her saying in her ear, “worrying isn’t going to help.”
Audrey nods taking a big sigh she turns from Nathan and says, “I’m done.” She looks up to Daniel, her back facing Nathan, “Want something to eat.” She asks.
Daniel nods, “Sure.”

INT. POLICE STATION - DAY
Sam, with suctions connected to wires on her forehead lays on the couch in Audrey and Nathan’s office.
The psychologist sits beside her a computer in front of her relaying heart rate and brain activity. “You are safe here Sam, safe with me.” She says as if commanding a safe space.
Sam is under hypnosis. With Duke and Dwight standing around the psychologist continues, “Remember that night after your date with Duke.”
Sam recalls that night;
EXT. THE GULL – PATIO - NIGHT  (FLASHBACK)
Sam is kissing Duke at the Gull; She kisses him deeply outside by their table. He wraps his arms around her and kisses her deeply. She pulls away and she says, “Now I’m good.” He stands dazed smiling at her as she wishes he’s safe on his trip. She then walks away.
In the parking lot Sam smiles, giddy as she strolls to her car. Suddenly a dark figure pulls her aside in a blur.
INT. POLICE STATION – AUDREY AND NATHAN’S OFFICE – DAY (PRESENT)
Laying on the couch in Nathan and Audrey’s office Sam gasps.
Duke jumps.
The psychologist continues, “Sam you’re safe here, you’re in the police station, go back and recall what happened.”
Sam calming down recalls back;
EXT. GULL – PATIO - NIGHT
She is sitting at the table at the Gull with Duke, their hands intertwined. She hears the physiologist say, “Remember just before you felt threatened and describe what you see.”
Sam’s memory jumps ahead.
EXT. GULL – PARKING LOT - NIGHT
Reliving it, Sam describes looking at her car, walking towards it. As someone snatches her she tells them, “Someone knocked me down.”
INT. POLICE STATION – NATHAN AND AUDREY’S OFFICE - DAY
In Nathan and Audrey’s office, Duke utters, “I should have walked her to her car.”
The psychologist turns to him and places her finger over her mouth, indicating he should be quiet. She turns back to Sam and asks her, “What’s the next place you remember being?”
INT. MANSE – BEDROOM - DAY
Sam recalls being in her place, still in her clothes the next morning, the mark on her chest she awakens.
“I’m in my place, but I don’t remember getting there. There’s blood on my blouse, a mark on my chest.”
The phycologist directs her to feel the mark, “recall when you first felt the pain of it”.
INT. POLICE STATION – AUDREY AND NATHAN’S OFFICE - DAY
Sam, laying on the couch cringes as she recalls. It’s difficult for her, causing her pain.
Duke squirms wanting to go to her.
Dwight holds him back with a gesture.
FOREST - NIGHT
Sam is in the forest. She stares straight ahead as blurry figures and shapes are in front of her a blurry woman etches into her skin. Another woman, blurry stands with her.
INT. POLICE STAITON – AUDREY AND NATHAN’S OFFICE – DAY/FOREST NIGHT (FLASHBACK) (GOES BETWEEN AS NEEDED)
In Audrey and Nathan’s office, Sam lays on the couch as if experiencing a bad dream. Dr. Freed monitors her vitals they are touching on the red but not staying there.
Sam groans, “They’re cutting into me.”
The phycologist asks her “who is?”
Sam struggles and Duke tenses, watching her.
“I can’t tell. It’s too blurry.” Sam says, “And it hurts. I can’t move.”
Freed asks Sam, “Where are you?”
Sam describes what she sees, “I’m in the forest, standing at the edge of a circle.”
Dr. Freed tells Sam to focus on the sounds, asking her what she can hear.
Sam focuses and struggles as the garbled words between two blurry figures turn into sentences, “’Mavis said the ceremony needs’, That’s all I can hear.” It is all she can make out and tells them.
Duke looks to Dwight, “Mavis wasn’t around yet.”
Sam continues to listen hearing and reporting; “When Mavis is here in person we’ll be a true coven.”
Duke sighs with understanding.
Sam overhears the blurry woman say, “We’ll get rid of her after this is over.”
Sam sees the woman who speaks. It’s Willow. Sam panics and begins to toss and turn as she mumbles, “The Lord is my Shepard I shall not want he makes me lie down in green pastures he leads me beside still waters...”
Duke tells Freed “wake her up.”
Sam’s vitals on the computer are in the red.

Act III
INT. POLICE STATION – AUDREY AND NATHAN’S OFFICE - DAY
Sam sits on the couch alert. Duke hands her a glass of water. She thanks him and smiles with some effort.
He sits down beside her.
She shudders, “It’s like waking up from a bad dream.”
Dwight sits down in a chair by the couch, “I always wondered how Willow knew about Mavis and the ceremony. Now we know she told them.”
Sam questions, “But she wasn’t here yet.”
Dwight, “Telepathy. It’s the only explanation.”
Sam looks at the ground. She declares, “I saw Willow. She was their leader.”
Dr. Freed enters saying, “That’s good. You recognized a face.” Sam looks to her, “I want to go back in, remember everything.”
Duke against it says, “Sam.” Urging her to stop.
Sam looks to him, “I need to know how I got away to help everyone else.”
Dr. Freed begins to pick the leads back up to prep Sam, “She’ll be alright? We’ll make sure of it.”
Duke reluctant stands from the couch relenting, his eyes on Sam as Dr. Freed puts the leads back on Sam’s head.
EXT. THE GULL - DAY
At the Gull, the hot stove meeting, Kyle, Derek, and Login’s wife chat about how they managed to get a few more people. “That makes about 40 who will fight with us,” Derek says as they seat on the patio of the Gull.
At the bottom of the stairs Nathan, still bandaged up, with hives over his face, sneezes. Audrey stands next to him with Daniel behind her.
ON THE BALCONY
Vince and Dave step up to the microphone and announce them, “We’re going to get started”
The chatter down below starts to die off.
“To start us off.” Vince says
Dave continues, “Nathan Wournos is going to say a few words.”
Nathan and Audrey make their way up the stairs with Daniel following. Some people clap and cheer for them some are stone faced with their hand around their chest.
Vince and Dave walk down the stairs and Nathan approaches the podium and awkwardly reads his cards, “Welcome everyone….”
There’s an awkward pause everyone waits for what he’ll do next.
Nathan continues, “All of you are here because you know, the town has troubles. As is tradition the hot stove meeting is a place to come forward with your concerns. So in a little bit we will invite people to speak, simply raise your hand and someone will hand you a microphone.”
Both James and Stan stand with Microphones below.
“But first” Nathan continues with a dry tone, “we need to say a few things about what’s been happening recently. From the concerns received in the hot stove meeting box there are two basic concerns. People are worried because unlike before the troubles are not gone and people are worried they might be troubled. The truth is the troubles aren’t gone and while this is a hardship for a lot of people, especially those who have lost people, Audrey and I in our work with troubled people have figured out how to get rid of them permanently.”
People start to talk amongst themselves, shocked.
As the chatting dies down Nathan continues, “To get rid of a troubles requires that we are familiar with the trouble and that it is expressed. Some are harder to get rid of than others.”
An older woman starts to yell, “why haven’t we heard about this?”
A man yells, “What’s taking so long?”
Nathan looks up, appearing like a deer in headlights.
Audrey steps up to the mic, “Like Nathan said some are harder to get rid of than others. You will need to have some patience here. There is only the two of us.”
Another man yells, “It’s taking too long. How many more people are we going to lose?”
Audrey patiently says, “This town has undergone more lose than any town ever should. And saying we’re doing everything we can would only make you feel the pain more profoundly so I won’t do that. What we can do is work together to make things better. Care for each other’s grief and suffering. Nathan and I, as well as Dave, Vince, and Daniel are here to help. Nathan will tell you what you can do to help.”
As Nathan steps back up to the podium, thanking Audrey, Daniel turns to Audrey and smiles at her, proud of her.
Nathan continues to read from his cards “There are things you can do to help us with the troubles. If you suspect you have a trouble you can come to Sam, Vince, Dave, Duke, Daniel, Audrey, Myself, or Dwight and talk to us. We will keep it confidential.”
Down below Kyle yells, “We have the right to know who’s troubled.”
People clamor in agreement.
Nathan simply continues, “If you wonder if your family has a trouble we have records of family histories that have been compiled which might be able to tell us.”
Down below people are looking around surprised at this news. Kyle looks to Login, “We need to get that list.”
Up above, “Now.” Nathan says, “We’ll begin question answer time.”
Many people raise their hands. Stan and James hand their mics to two people on opposite sides of the patio below.
Audrey stepping up to the mic says, “If we do not wish to ask the questions publically you can write them down on the papers at your tables and put them in the box.”
Dave and Vince below hold the box.
A woman asks, “Why aren’t the troubles gone?”

INT. POLICE STATION – AUDREY AND NATHAN’S OFFICE - DAY
In Audrey and Nathan’s office in the police station Sam lays on the couch again, with the monitors suctions on her head. The phycologist speaks to her, calmly and clearly, “You are safe here in the police station simply recalling back to the forest when the witches were speaking. Focus on their voices.”
FOREST – NIGHT (FLASHBACK)
Sam is in the forest as the blurry figures speak in garbled language. She tries to focus on what the women say.
INT. POLICE STATION - AUDREY AND NATHAN’S OFFICE - DAY
In Nathan and Audrey’s office Sam laying on the couch struggles.
Duke fidgets worried about her. Dwight holds him back trying to get him to stop, “She’s okay.”
FOREST – NIGHT (FLASHBACK)/ AUDREY AND NATHAN’S OFFICE - DAY (GOES BETWEEN AS NEEDED)
Sam in the forest looks at Willow, no longer blurry and a blurry woman beside her. A man behind them comes up with a box. Sam focuses hard saying, “Jeremy?” questioning it.
In the forest Sam looks to the man trying to see him, the blurriness disappears. It is Jeremy.
Willow murmurs, “It took long enough.”
The man puts the box down and there’s clanging heard from the box.
“You didn’t break one of them?” Willow yells annoyed she argues, “The hearts need to be perfectly preserved in the jars or the ceremony won’t work.”
The blurry woman says, “It was hard to get those we don’t want to have to do it again.”
Willow says, “We can’t, there aren’t enough decedents of the original witches in Haven.”
Sam laying on the couch reports, “They took the hearts for the ceremony. Dave and Vince were right, they needed the decedents of the original witches.”
In the forest Jeremy continue saying, “It wasn’t that hard to get them.” As Willow, the woman, and Jeremy puts the hearts around the circle. “the husband of the heart woman was pretty easy to upset, a little touch there. He set her off for us.”
Sam reports to Dwight and Duke, “Jeremy made Glen, Lily’s, the heart woman’s husband, angry with her to set her off.”
In the forest the blurry woman argues, “You only had to yank out one heart, almost damaging it. I cut two out with precision and patience.
Jeremy looks to Sam, “She won’t remember any of this, we’ll mark her with a Endothingy, the fan looking thing?”
“An Endicott.” The blurry woman says.
Willow adds, “Eventually so her ghost can’t come back but the trance prevents her from remembering.”
Sam gaps on the couch, “The fan symbol ensures silence of their victims.”
As the witches finish setting up the hearts in the forest Jeremy jealous says, “You have to show me how you maintain that trance.”
Willow says, “The 11th time was the charm.”
Jeremy annoyed says, “You didn’t have to bury 10 bodies. Their eyes all bloodshot like zombies.”
The blurry woman says, “They were dead. You’re such a baby.”
Sam as she lays on the couch gasps, “They killed ten people. Jeremy buried ten people with blood shot eyes. It was practice to get me in the trance.”

EXT. GULL - PATIO - DAY
More questions continue as people are handed the mics. Angrily people come to tell their stories of their spouses, children, a friend dying because of the troubles and they complain about them.
Nathan, Audrey, and Daniel each respond to a comment.
Daniel relays there are counseling groups forming through the church to help people who have lost.
Nathan reports that he’ll look into concerns of specific troubles.
Audrey reiterates to people that if they suspect there’s a dangerous trouble call the Haven PD don’t try to handle it yourself.
Then Derek gets to the mic, “We’ve heard that there are witches in the forest troubling people. What is the Haven PD doing about that?”
People are clamoring for information. They have also heard of the witches, someone had a dream they were in a witches circle, like the girl found this morning. Someone’s daughter had the same dream. People are unhappy.
James, standing in a corner walkie’s Dwight at the station, “Dwight you have anything. Things are getting tense around here.”
FOREST - NIGHT (FLASHBACK)/ INT. POLICE STAITON – AUDREY AND NATHAN’S OFFICE – DAY (GO BACK AND FORTH AS NEEDED)
In Audrey and Nathan’s office, Sam hears the message as she recalls standing in the forest.
In the actual office Dwight turns down the walkie. He speaks into it, “We’re coming to it.”
EXT. GULL - DAY
As the crowd gets riled up at the Gull James says into the walkie, “well hurry up.” He goes to help with the crowd, “Quiet! Let them speak!”
The crowd doesn’t listen. They are angry saying, “Are you admitting there are witches?”

Loving of neighbor will protect us as it does Audrey and Nathan, Duke and me. And if you’re alone, God’s love will also protect us. It is the greatest of all. He sacrificed his only son to free us from the slavery of sin from death, a few witches are not a problem for him.”

Zara swallows hard not wanting to accept this truth, “Perhaps that’s true.” Zara says, “But it won’t matter to them. They don’t have enough faith to let go the way she did. She didn’t even have it when we took her the second time. Everyone always has to be in control. Take initiative, the American way. The one thing that makes God great is we can strive for whatever we want and free will means he can’t stop us.”
Zara pushes against Audrey throwing her off. In a blurry run Zara is gone.

“We’ll find out for you.” Vince offers.
“We’ll do a pole in the Haven Harold.” Dave explains. It seems he and Vince have already talked about it.
Daniel nods, “They will believe it. They’d rather have hope than despair. It makes them feel like that have control.”
Audrey jumps at the word control pondering deep in thought, as if wondering if people will ever be able to surrender control. She sighs.
As Audrey sighs James asks, “Why did she keep us alive?”
Daniel answers, “Mavis wants a show not a mass grave.”
Audrey adds, “It’s better with one at a time.”
James sighs, “Shame, I liked Zara.”
Daniel trying not to smile but failing says, “You really got to stop liking the psycho women.”
Audrey can’t help but smile either as does Dwight and Nathan.
James shakes his head and nods, “yeah.”
Dwight sighs, “Get some rest, we have work to do in the morning.”
As the group disbands, turning in their different directions Audrey asks, “Where’s Sam?”

Sam puts on her hand lotion.
Duke sighs and turns to her, putting down his book. “Do you really believe what you said, God will save us?”
Sam nods, “Yeah, I do. It’s what happened Duke.”
Duke nods, “I believe you. It’s good enough for me but not everyone will accept that as enough.”
Sam nods, “Yeah, I know.” She sighs getting in bed.
Duke again turns from her coldly, scooting away from her so there’s a space between them. The air is thick with tension as he picks up his book and reads.
Sam looks at her cell phone on the night stand, “I got a message from the doctor’s office.”
Duke lifts his head from his book.
Duke says, “Well.”
Sam is about to call her voice mail when she looks to Duke, “I know you’re not happy about this.”
“How could I be happy about this?” Duke argues.
Sam leans back, “I’m not exactly prepared to be a mother either but I’m going to love this child.”
Duke interrupts, “Yes, which is why I understand that you have to leave.”
Sam taken a-back says, “Leave?”
Duke continues, “With my smuggling it’s the best thing to keep the child safe.”
Sam shakes her head, “Duke...I’m not leaving you.”
Duke questions her, “You said no kids if I keep smuggling.”
Sam nods, “We won’t plan to have kids but that doesn’t mean I’d leave if it’s unplanned.”
Duke with a very confused look on his face says, “But you’ve been looking at houses.”
Sam nods, “Yes, for us. “ She emphasizes us, and points to the two of them continuing quickly, “I know you love the boat but because the smuggling is happening here-”
Duke puts his hands up unsure what to make of the situation, “Wait, so you’re not leaving but we have to move.”
Sam hesitant says, “I didn’t want to talk about this until we knew.” She looks to her cell phone, getting to the messages.
He grabs her hand, covering the phone, stopping her, “Wait, moving was what you didn’t want to talk about?”
Sam sighs, “Yeah, you love this boat.”
Duke laughs, “I don’t care. I’ll move.”
Sam smiles faintly, “You’re sure.”
Duke certain says, “Yes, I love you. I’m just glad you’re not leaving.”
Sam looks deep in his loving eyes, “Is that why you were so distant you thought I was going to leave?”
Duke says, “Yeah.” caressing her face.
She looks at him glum, “I thought it was because you don’t want this child.”
Duke shakes his head and slides down on the bed and kisses her belly.
She smiles stroking his hands through his hair she says, “So we’re ready to listen to the message.”
Duke nods.
Sam plays the message, the doctor reports he got her bloodwork back saying, “you are not pregnant but there’s plenty of time if you and Duke want to try.”
Sam’s smile fades and Duke’s face turns glum.
