S5 E3 "Witch Time Part I" Haven Rewrites

S5 E3 “Witch Time Part I” – When one of the witches goes back in time to retrieve the witches' spell book, Audrey notices things start to change around her and sends Sam and Duke back in time to stop the witches from bringing the book back to the present.

Previously on Haven:

Duke found out he’s going to be killed by a man with a four person tattoo on his arm. Following a map of someone who escaped the man with the four person tattoo Duke discovered a box that belonged to the Crocker family which carries the key to survival. It says, “Love conquers all”.

Duke and Nathan traveled back in time with the help of Stuart Mosby, there they met Sarah, a pervious personality of Audrey.

Mavis, a witch from Haven’s past, the witch who troubled the town is back. She’s Audrey’s mother. Audrey’s father, Daniel, is back to protect Audrey from Mavis.

Mavis has other witches of Haven helping her trouble the town. One of them is Kat, Sam’s sister who tried to trouble Sam but Duke’s love protected her.

Nathan, now able to cure the troubles was put to the test when Mavis activated multiple troubles and shortly after purposing to Audrey he collapsed.

Audrey explains “He’s fine just sleeping apparently healing people takes something out of him and he wasn’t aware how much. We’ll just need to be careful.”

Unable to hold it in anymore James blurts out, “I’m the Colorado kid. The boy in the photo who was killed in 1983 is me.”

Audrey pauses for a moment, “Finally. It took you long enough.”

James stands tall chest out, “You knew?” He exclaims.

“We all knew.” Audrey says.

Angered James demands to know “Why didn’t you tell me.”

She calmly responds, “Would you have believed it?”

James stands thinking over Audrey’s logic. He’s not finding it as far- fetched as he would like to.

Audrey fiddling with the ring looks down at it to see one of the diamonds has popped loose. “Damn it.” She takes off the ring, “Nathan’s going to kill me.”

James looking at the ring tells her, “I can fix it.” He holds out his hand.

Grateful, he hands her the ring.

He puts it in his back pocket and asks “What happened? Who killed me? How am I still alive?”

Audrey sighs and looks to him sympathetic, “We don’t know. No one knows what happened that day.”

Nathan comes out of the bedroom, the floor boards creaking as he walks Audrey looks to the hall. She smiles at him.

“She has declared war against the town.” Daniel says.

“What do you purpose we do? Force our men to fight her. How could we possibly win?” the man with a mustache says.

Daniel leans up to him, “We need the book.”

The mustache man nods, “Yes, but how will we get it?”

Daniel sighs, feeling hopeless.

Jeremy stands around watching. He watches as…

A ten year old girl skips in saying “Father, Father.” Her eyes are Audrey’s eyes. Her face Audrey’s face.

Daniel stops talking to the man and looks to the girl, “Angel, what is it?”

The girl grabs Daniel’s hands, “I need to show you something. Come, come…”

She pulls on him. Daniel unable to argue with his sweet girl turns to the mustache man.

The man nods.

Daniel goes with the girl. But Daniel notices Jeremy watching but turns away as young Audrey tugs at him.

Audrey stands in the office with Daniel, her father. “You’re sure you saw him in 1765?” Audrey asks and points to the video of Jeremy.

Audrey is taken aback, “Who said anything about not trusting you?” She looks at him sincere, “I trust you...”

Daniel sighs and smiles, “You have no idea how long I’ve waited to hear that.” He says.

As the copier grinds out a print, Dave walks in wearing commando gear, “I have those records you wanted.” Dave says and hands Audrey a file.

Chuckling she takes the file, “What’s with the getup?” She asks.

Nathan walks up to Audrey behind Dave. “What do you mean, Dave always looks like that?”

Audrey looks to Dave and then Nathan, “We’re engaged right? And James is out son?” she asks Nathan.

Nathan nods, “Yes.” He says with a smile. His smile fades, “Why?”

She turns to Dave, “And you and your brother Vince fight all the time?”

Dave turns glum.

Nathan, sour faced looks to Audrey, “Vince has been dead for over 20 years.”

Audrey is stunned.

Dave looks to Audrey, “Audrey what is this about?”

Audrey takes the print out from the printer, a picture of Jeremy and looks to Nathan, “We’re going to see Stuart Mosley.” Audrey walks out, Nathan, Daniel, and Dave follow.

Audrey nods, “I wanted you all here, because you know about Stuart Mosley. Jeremy saw him 20 minutes ago, he’s not here and he hasn’t come out.”

Duke sighs as Sam asks, “Who’s Stuart Mosely?”

Duke turns to her and says, “Stuart sends people in time, changing history. Nathan and I ventured back to 1955 where Sarah, one of Audrey’s previous personalities and Nathan conceived James.”

Audrey, Nathan, Dave, and Daniel nod as they look to Sam. This is old news for them.

Dave comments, “which is why James isn’t here.”

Sam shocked says, “James doesn’t know he’s your son?”

Audrey looks down, “That’s tomorrow’s problem. If Mavis changes time to serve her purposes-”

Daniel shakes his head, “She won’t. She’s immune like you she’d just end up in a present she knows nothing about. Most likely she’s trying to steal the book back.”

Audrey turns to Daniel curious.

Daniel explains, “Mavis and her witches had this book called the Malleus Maleficarum, “Hammer of witches” it’s a spell book of incantations. We took it from the witches to destroy it so they couldn't make more witches. That's why she has to use decedents of the witches. I’ll never forget her face when she was forced to let us walk away with it. You two were there.” He turns to Sam and Duke.

Sam puts her hand to her chest surprised, “Us”.

Daniel nods, “Yes, your love makes you powerful against the witches. I’ve been waiting for this day.”

Audrey watches as a store front disappears outside. She turns to Sam and Duke eager, “Okay, you’ll go back. Stuart can do that.”

Duke pauses, “Wait.” He’s not sure he wants to go back to 1765.

At the same time Nathan and Dave look to her concerned saying, “Audrey-”

Audrey cuts them off, “there’s no time. The stores outside are beginning to disappear.”

Audrey rushes to Stuart’s room.

Sam looks to Duke he nods taking her hand they follow Audrey.

Daniel walks with them.

Sam looks to Daniel, “What happened? How did we destroy the book?”

Daniel responds, “There’s no time to explain, just be yourself. You were put in this situation for such a time as this.”

Stuart says, “I knew you would be coming.” He says.

She looks to him surprised.

He looks behind Audrey to Sam and Duke, who hold hands.

Sam and Duke disappear.

Audrey utters, “I hope we did the right thing.” Audrey turns to the bed. Stuart is gone the bed neatly made.

Audrey gets the attention of an orderly walking by, “Where’s Stuart, Where’s Stuart Mosley?”

Audrey sighs, “They’re on their own now.”

FOREST – DAY - 1961

Sam and Duke appear in 1765 looking onto a small colonial town. Suddenly they are grabbed from behind. Bags placed over their heads.

Act II

INT. HOUSE – DAY - 1765

Sam and Duke are tied to chairs. Bags are over their heads.

The bags over their head are removed as they are face to face with a young man. The young man stands confidently, “Witches, you will pay for what you did to us.”

Sam turns to the young man, “I’m not a witch.” she says insistent.

Behind him, Duke works on the knots tying his hands behind the chair.

“You appeared out of thin air.” The man yells and strikes Sam across the face.

Duke squirms, “Leave her alone.” Duke yells, “If you touch her I’ll-”

Interrupting Sam scoffs, “You’ll what? You’re tied to a chair honey.”

Duke looks to her hurt and insulted.

Sam continues, “This man has obviously been troubled. It’s not like you have super strength.”  She says emphasizing the super strength part (he does have super strength, when he’s charged by troubled blood.)

Duke suddenly understands, Sam’s trying to tell him to use his trouble to get free. Duke looks at the man and says, “You’re a coward to beat on a woman tied to a chair. And a slap. I bet you can’t even punch.”

The man looks to Duke angry as he forms a fist.

Sam tries to hide her smile. She’s so proud.

The man punches Duke.

Sam flinches closing her eyes.

Duke teases him after the first punch, saying “that didn’t even hurt”.

On the next punch the young man’s knuckle bleeds and Duke’s skin absorbs it. His eyes turn silver. With one tug he breaks the ropes around his writs and rushes the man pressing him against the wall.

“You’re an idiot.” Duke says, “Alone with two people you think are witches.”

Sam yells from her chair, “Don’t hurt him.”

Suddenly the door opens and the man with the mustache bursts in, holding a bad, “What’s going on in here?” He demands to know.

The young man punches Duke and he falls to the ground. The mustache man sees blood absorbed by Duke’s skin, and his eyes turn silver.

As Duke moves to face the young man the man with the mustache shock on his face as he stares at Duke yells, “Jack, leave us.”

The young man, Jack argues, “But”

The mustache man insists.

The young man leaves ashamed, slamming the door behind him.

Duke stands watching the man with the mustache carefully. The mustache man goes over to Sam’s chair, uniting it, as he does he speaks, “I’m sorry for Jack. He’s angry. He can’t feel anything since he was cursed.”

Both Sam and Duke look at each other. Duke looks back at the mustache man, “Hanson? Jack Hanson?” Duke asks.

“Yes. And I am Norman, Norman Crocker.”

Sam looks to Duke, who looks at the man shocked.

Norman smiles and says, “Ah, so you are my descendent.”

Sam asks, “How did you?”

Norman holds out the bag and as he speaks he pulls out the small box. “I had this commissioned just a few days ago,” he looks up to Duke, “and you have my curse.” He looks down glumly, “It was specifically designed for me. I can either watch my people suffer or kill them to save them.” He looks to Duke and pointblank says, “Are you here to kill me?”

Duke shakes his head. “No. I refuse to kill.”

Norman sighs in relief, “As do I. I’m glad to know that carried on.” Norman looks up with a smiles that is slightly disappointed.

Duke looks down unable to tell him the truth.

Meanwhile Sam unfolds the picture of Jeremy.  Sam holds out the picture of Jeremy, “We’re here to find him. His name is Jeremy. He is a witch from our time. He’s after the book.”

Norman turns towards them, surprised they know about it.

Sam continues, “Daniel said that we would get to it first.”

Norman looks to them and utters, “Daniel?” surprised, “I will take you to him. He knows more about it than I do. But first let us get you into something less conspicuous.”

Sam looks down and nods.

INT. POLICE DEPARTMENT – DAY – 2014

Audrey walks into the police department. Everyone looks at her and looks saddened.

Audrey looks around as people avoid looking at her, “Who died?” she asks cavalier.

“Audrey you were there, last week.” Audrey is confused.

Dave says, “I know you loved him Audrey but we can’t have you stuck in denial.”

Audrey saddened utters, “Nathan?”

Dave looks to her confused, “Who’s Nathan?”

Audrey demands to know, “Who died?”

Dave reminds her, “Dwight. With him unable to cure the troubles the guard is…I can’t control them anymore and people are panicked. Mavis will take advantage of this. You are not safe.”

Daniel comes from Audrey’s office, “We have a plan. I know you don’t trust me-”

Daniel shakes his head.

On the other side of the room Duke turns to Sam, “We need to find Jeremy. He probably has the book already.”

Sam shakes her head, “He doesn’t.”

Duke looks confused. “How can you be so sure?”

Sam elaborates, “Daniel said he wouldn’t forget Mavis’ face when we had to walk out with the book. It has to play out that way. If Jeremy changes it he’ll change the future so Mavis lives in a future she knows nothing about. He has to steel the book from us. He’s probably right outside right now watching us. Daniel’s paranoia isn’t unfounded, Jeremy may have even corralled him here.”

Dave sighs, “We were a little worried you’d resist, since for some reason you didn’t trust Daniel.”

Audrey looks to Daniel, “Do you remember Sam and Duke, 1765.”

Daniel nods, “I remember. But I never knew if they’d actually destroyed the book.”

Audrey looks worried. Jeremy might come back with it.

“You believe us?” Sam asks.

Daniel nods, “We could use some hope right now. So where is Mavis’s compound? Where is she keeping the book?”

Duke alarmed says, “We thought you knew.”

Daniel shakes his head, “No, if you can’t-“

As Sam thinks, Duke interrupts defensively, “We’re here to help.”

Sam whispers, “Why us?” and then says, ”Nell…Nell Wheeler.”

Norman asks, “What about Nell Wheeler?”

Sam continues, “She’s my…I’m her descendant. She’s a witch.”

Norman and Daniel are surprised.

Sam continues, “If we follow her.”

Norman turns to Daniel, “Jack.” Daniel nods.

He turns to the confused Sam and Duke, “Jack is engaged to Anne Wheeler, Nell’s sister. Perhaps they can help us.”

Sam nods. Daniel says, “We’ll go in the morning. It’s too dangerous now with the witches out. You’ll stay here for the night.” Daniel says.

Duke asks, “So…” he looks around, “where is your daughter?”

Daniel guilty says, “She’s not safe here.”

Norman looks to him sternly, “Daniel, where is she?”

Daniel shakes his head, “She’s safer where she is.”

Jack throws the mold on the ground, “There will not be any wedding.” He points to Sam and Duke, “They were supposed to cure me of this affliction. What good am I to Anne if I cannot feel.”

Sam steps up to Jack, “But you love her. I know because you thought of her first, not about what you would lose but what she would. She gains more marring you like this. You’re not marrying her in the hope of physical pleasures but to be with her.”

Jack stands there shocked. Embarrassed he asks, “But how can I be with her physically if I cannot feel her.”

Sam sighs, “You feel love for her when you think of her. With a thought you will find a way to rise to the occasion.”

Sam looks down at Jack’s crotch, “Case and point.”

Jack looks down and steps back embarrassed. He looks to the group and asks, “What is it I can do to help you?”

Duke steps forward, “We’re actually looking for Nell Wheeler.”

Jack sighs, “You’re in luck. I know where she’ll be.”

Jack knocks on Anne’s door.

A woman’s voice from inside asks, “Who is it?”

Norman says, “Anne we need your help.”

Anne yells, “And why shouldn’t I you called it off without telling me why.”

Jack yells back, “She did this to me Anne. She’s a witch.”

Anne takes a deep breath backing down, “I know.” She says.

Norman and Duke are both shocked, “You knew.” They say at the same time in the same way turned sideways with one leg inching towards Anne.

Sam chuckles at them. They could be twins.

“She told me.” Anne says, “Wanted me to join them.”

Sam looks to Anne, staring as if she’s the only one in the room, “You told her you would.”

Jack looks to Anne taken aback.

Anne pleads, “She would have killed me if I didn’t.”

Jack lovingly places his hands on Anne’s cheeks, “I shouldn’t have left you alone.”

Anne pulls away, “I can take care of myself.”

Norman asks her to tell them about Nell, “It was hard for Nell when our parents died. She gave up her whole life to look after me and George, God rest his soul.” Anne starts to cry.

Sam goes to her and hugs her, “I know how you feel.”

Anne pulls away upset, “How could you possibly know how I feel?”

Sam declares, “My sister is a witch too.”

Anne looks to her shocked. “She’s my little sister so I feel responsible. I was supposed to look after her. But then I realized it’s not my fault, she has to live with her own choices.”

Norman softly and slowly interrupts, “What is the plan? What did she tell you would happen?”

Anne sighs and looks to Norman, “She would meet me here tonight, after dark and take me to them.”

Duke nods, “We’ll follow.”

Jack shakes his head, “No, we don’t even know if the book will be there.”

Anne responds, “When I asked how I could be made a witch she said there’s a book. They’ll have it there.”

Duke nods.

Jack continues, “Regis Glendower, who owns the shop, don’t get him talking too much. He’ll talk forever.”

Duke nods, “good to know…about Anne. I know it’s none of my business but tell her how you feel. Women really like that and it actually makes things better.”

Jack interrupts, “We’ll take the larger one.”

The clerk nods and puts the large box on the table.

Duke sighs, “Really?”

The man turns to Duke pressing the gun in Duke’s face.

He said it was the most beautiful rock he’d ever seen and that I the most beautiful girl, should have it.” Anne sighs, “I never know what Jack is feeling, if he feels at all.” Anne huffs angrily, “I told Nell that before he was cursed. I suppose that’s why he was given the curse he was.”

Sam and Anne see Nell approaching the house.

Sam asks, “Are you ready?”

“If something happens can you tell Jack…”

Sam says, “You’ll tell him yourself.”

Anne nods.

Sam crawls under the bed.

A moment later Nell comes through the door.

Sam watches Anne and Nell’s feet. “Let’s go.” She overhears Nell’s deep voice say.

Anne responds, “Where are we going?”

“Over by the concurrent streams. It’s not far.” Nell assures her.
