Episode Two

Painted on a wall is a giant version of the circular tattoo, a shrine in front of it. Chanting in a foreign language is heard as a hand scatters smoke around.

In the forest, a woman is running terrified.

At the Herald Newspaper, Audrey is showing Nathan articles of their cases to try and help him remember who he is. Vincent is trying to get him to remember how to heal. They are both being too pushy and Nathan doesn’t like it, feels like he’s being used so he walks out.

A young man, Brent Buckley is found dead in his camping tent. Claw marks all over him. His camping group is shocked. Audrey questions them and Dwight shows up to help. Audrey learns that Shelby, a young woman in the camping group found the body, inside a zipped tent. Looking at the tent they find claw marks inside the tent that scratch their way out not in as evident by the paw prints facing outward. Dwight identifies the print as a mountain lion. Someone turned into a mountain Lion, was in that tent that clawed Brent and his way out. Brent’s father is at the crime scene and overhears Dwight say this is a trouble. He gets mad at Shelby and Ryan, the others who was there. He tells them this is their fault, they were supposed to keep him from those freaks. Audrey is going to talk to him but Dwight won’t let her since he’s a follower of Reverend Driscal and bitter that Audrey killed him (to protect a troubled girl). Audrey’s surprised people are still followers of Driscal since he’s been dead over a year.  Dwight says, “It gets worse the Good Shepard Church is saying they found a new Reverend to replace him.” They both know that could be bad, since Driscal and his parishioners stirred up violence against the troubled. Dwight takes the father aside to talk to him.

Just then Ryan and Shelby realize that another member of their camping group is missing, their friend Willow. They thought she went home but realized she didn’t. Everyone goes into high gear, there’s a missing member of the camping party.

Act I

Officers canvas the forest looking for Willow, a woman with dirty blond hair.

Nathan comes to help Audrey search putting their disagreement aside for the sake of this girl. Audrey reveals Willow may have a trouble, some kind of turn into an animal thing like Native American folk lore and she’s already killed someone.

Brent’s Father Mr. Buckley is searching too, with some of his church buddies, who don’t seem interested in rescuing her as they hold onto their guns.

Audrey is worried about her, Nathan knows they have to find her first. They search together and she lets Nathan lead. He says they should search by the road because that’s where he would go.

By the road Audrey and Nathan find Willow, the same woman who was being chased at the beginning. She is on the edge of the road collapsed, exhausted and dehydrated. They send her to the hospital. And Nathan’s on the case with Audrey again.

Late that night Audrey is in her pajamas, Nathan enters her place he knows who she is and he missed her. They kiss only for a mysterious woman, with auburn hair and cheekbones like Audrey to pull Nathan away and kill him as Audrey stands frozen unable to do anything. Audrey sits in the corner terrified. The corner turns into a forest and she hides between rocks as the woman calls out to her. Audrey is a little girl of about three years and the woman finds her and pulls her out by her hair. But then Audrey lying in bed wakes up panicked shaking.

The next day Audrey and Nathan go and talk to the other two campers. Shelby was sleeping and Ryan went out to take a leak and then he was sleeping outside so he had no reason to go back in the tent. They thank them and get a call from the hospital, Willow is stable and able to talk to them.

Duke meets Audrey and Nathan at the entrance to the Hospital, she’d asks him to come and he asks what he can do. She turns to Nathan, who stands a ways from them. Nathan is having trouble getting his gun back in his holster.  Duke turns to Audrey, “Maybe you shouldn’t give him a gun.” Duke says. Audrey comments, “I want him to feel like a cop someone just needs to keep an eye on him while we question this witness…and possible murder.” Duke is annoyed she asked but agrees because “I’m not leaving you alone with him”, he says and points to Nathan.

Inside the hospital room Audrey asks the woman, Willow, what happened? She says a giant cat was chasing her and she just kept running. When Audrey tells her that Brent is dead. “It appears he was killed by a mountain Lion” Willow’s saddened. “I knew it was a bad idea to go out there but I was upset they wanted to cheer me up and I’d just made friends.” Audrey asks, “Why were you upset?” “It had taken everything I had to move to Haven I was in an abusive relationship back home and when my grandmother passed leaving me her house I came. Yesterday I’d just found out my job is being eliminated. Brent joked that I could live out in the woods. It was just supposed to take my mind off it.” Audrey asks if she was particularly upset last night, “Yeah, I had a fight with Shelby. She’s Brent’s girlfriend. I didn’t think he cared about her the way she cares about him. He’s just like his dad, unfeeling, all in it for himself. But she just doesn’t see it. He’s such a jerk to her.”

Audrey searches the drawers of the hospital and finds a syringe and some gauze. She says, “Okay, here’s what we’re going to do.” She tells Willow they’re going to do a small blood test to make sure everything’s okay. She turns to Duke who realizes that’s why he’s there and is annoyed. He asks to talk to her outside. In the hall Audrey pleads with him. Nathan’s confused. Audrey explains Duke’s trouble, that he absorbs the blood of a troubled person, if they’re troubled. Nathan puts the pieces together, she might be the one to cause the trouble and Duke can see if she’s troubled. Duke reluctantly agrees.

Brent’s father is upset that his son is dead, as he speaks to his wife, she comments that they should have had a better relationship. He shouldn’t have been so hard on him. Mr. Buckley says, “Do you know what he was doing?” He goes over to the Hospital to kill that bitch who killed his son.

Audrey takes the blood herself. Nathan comments she’s good at that. Duke says, “It’s part of a past life.”

In the hall they put the blood on Duke and nothing happens, it’s not her. Willow’s not troubled. From her hospital room Willow asks if it’s okay.

Audrey goes over to Willow and says everything is okay. When Willow asks to know what all this is about if it was an animal attack Audrey admits that Brent might have been murdered. Willow’s worried it’s her fault. Audrey tries to assure her it wasn’t but Willow insists saying that, “When Shelby wouldn’t listen to me I went to prove Brent was a jerk. I was with him that night.” Brent’s father overhears.

Mr. Buckley arrives at Shelby’s house and fires at her but misses. He yells, “You killed my son” as she runs inside, locks the door, and hides as she calls the police.

Act II

Audrey goes over to Shelby’s and finds Dwight is there and so is Brent’s father with a shotgun threatening Shelby. Dwight came since they’re a little short-handed. He tried to get her to go out the back but she won’t move. Audrey and Dwight try to get Mr. Buckley to calm down but he’s mad she killed his son. Audrey tells Dwight Nathan and Duke are with Willow, who is not troubled. Shelby might be the troubled person apparently Brent was stepping out on her. Audrey tries to convince him they don’t know that she killed Brent but there’s no reasoning with him. Audrey goes around back to get to Shelby. Mr. Buckley lights something and throws it into the house, the house starts to burn, Shelby screams. Audrey gets in through the back door and finds Shelby and her house is lighting up quick. She gets her out.

The ambulance there Ryan comes to Shelby to see if she’s alright. Audrey calmly talks to Shelby about her family. Knowing she’s asking about whether she’s troubled or not she says she was adopted “that’s how she’d met Willow she worked in records at the adoption agency in Haven.” Audrey and Dwight learn Shelby didn’t know about Brent and Willow and says, “If that’s true she was right. He is jerk. I can’t believe she’d do that for me.” Ryan asks, “You’re not mad?” She turns to Ryan, “Of course I’m mad, but I’d break up with him I wouldn’t kill him. I couldn’t. I loved him. I didn’t want him dead.” Ryan comforts her. Audrey and Dwight are surprised by her reaction but her reaction makes it clear she really didn’t know. And Audrey points out that she’d probably have manifested in some way during the fire. They are back to square one, expect he had to invite the person in his tent so it was someone he knew. Dwight says, “That doesn’t help much. Brent was Haven’s drug dealer he did his deals in the woods.” Audrey’s upset, “It really could be anyone.”

Act III

It’s the next day they’ve had all Brent’s records shipped over to the department Duke, Nathan, Audrey, Vince and Dave go over the records. Vince and Dave are very opinionated about who the person could be as if they have some insider information about who has what trouble. Of course they bicker about it. Audrey complains that they should really keep a record of this stuff it could be helpful to the police department. They admit their records have been out of sorts the last few…decades. The group continues to search.

Willow is released from the hospital, Ryan and Shelby meet her. Shelby asks her again, “You’re sure it’s okay if I stay with you.” Shelby looks to the police escort with her. “Yeah, he looks cute and I’ll need someone to help me.” Willow says. Shelby smiles and says “You look fine.”

As Ryan helps them into Shelby’s car he tells Shelby that if she needs anything just to call. But he can’t leave her and tells her he’ll follow her to make sure they’re safe. Willow jokes about him moving in too.

At the police station Audrey asks to look at the crime scene again. Vince hands over a picture he drew. Audrey asks “if Shelby and Ryan were there why did the mountain lion go after Willow, unless she was targeted.” They’ve already got a person at her place since Shelby’s staying with her. They continue to look at the evidence.

At the house Shelby announces to Ryan in the main room that Willow has just gone to sleep. She offers him some tea and he accepts. She says he’s really nice for staying. He says he knows this must be hard. She says it’s harder for him, Brent’s been his best friend for a long time. Ryan talks about how his friendship with Brent was clichéd; no matter what Brent did he would always go along with it until her, “I wanted him to tell you about Willow”. He reveals he likes Shelby. She holds his hand, reciprocating.

The next morning Ryan wakes up next to Shelby kisses her and says he’ll get them some breakfast.

Audrey picks up Nathan for breakfast and can’t help but brainstorm because the mystery is still bothering her.

At Willow’s, Willow stands in the kitchen with a splitting headache. She’s surprised to see Ryan come out of Shelby’s room, “You and Shelby?” He nods, happily. Willow with her hands on her hips asks if it’s such a good idea she knows what happened with Brent she was there. She saw him turn into the Mountain Lion.

Act IV

Willow tells Ryan, “I’m not going to turn you in. Brent was a jerk but she’ll hate you if she finds out. She loved him and if you stay she will find out.” Ryan turns to the bedroom door upset he doesn’t want to leave her. Willows says “I’ll take care of her, I know you never meant any of this to happen and you want the best for her.” He nods, “Yeah.” tears in his eyes. He heads towards the bedroom, Willow asks, “what are you doing?” Ryan wants to say goodbye. Willow objects, “It will be easier if you don’t.” He goes inside the door, Willow’s upset, “Why does there have to be all this drama?” she says.

Inside the bedroom Shelby says, “I thought you were going to get breakfast.” He tells her he has to go. Shelby sits up in bed and asks what’s wrong. He turns to her and tells her “I never meant to put your life in danger and you won’t be safe until they catch who killed Brent.” With a sigh he says, “I did.” She looks at him angry. “You killed him.” She says upset. Suddenly on her back shoulder bone the four person circular tattoo appears and then vanishes just as it appeared. “I didn’t mean to. I was just so angry when I saw him with Willow and when I confronted him he didn’t even care.” Ryan tries to reach out to her and she tells him to “get away from me.”

As Audrey and Nathan leave breakfast Nathan comments that “Ryan obviously liked Shelby. You see the way he came running to her when she was in trouble.” Audrey just realizes this and says, “And he wasn’t surprised when we told Shelby that Brent had cheated on her.” She heads to his house realizing Ryan’s the Mountain Lion.

Audrey and Nathan pull up on the street as they hear shots fired and the roar of a Mountain Lion. They get to the house and hear more shots fired. They run inside the house, Willow holds a handgun at the Mountain Lion, which stands over Shelby’s mauled body. Audrey stops Willow. She speaks to the Lion says they can help him and he turns back into Ryan. He looks over to Shelby. She’s been mauled. He’s grief stricken, crying. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to.”

They take him outside in handcuffs, as they do shots are fired at him from the trees up the hill in front of the house. Audrey and Nathan find cover with Ryan.

Mr. Buckley movies to find a better place to shoot as he does. Dwight up on the hill runs down to Mr. Buckley and swipes him from behind telling Audrey through the walkie that it’s clear.

Audrey and Nathan take Ryan to the car.

Audrey and Nathan sit in the interrogation room with Ryan who’s forlorn. He confesses to killing the woman he loves. Audrey tells him she knows it’s hard now but they’ll going to try and make him better and that might make things a little bit better. Nathan puts his hands on him. When he pulls them down Audrey out of the corner of her mouth says, “That’s it.” He speaking out of the corner of his mouth says, “I think”. Audrey than tells Ryan they’ll find a new place for him. He’s upset he should go to prison for what he did and right there he turns into a Mountain Lion. Audrey and Nathan jump, luckily the cuff are still on his now paws so he can’t really move. “I didn’t heal him.” Nathan says upset and bolts out of the room.

Audrey leaves the interrogation room closing the door behind and goes to Dwight who saw Nathan leave. She says, “He needs to be angry.” Dwight, realizing the healing didn’t work says he’ll take care of Ryan. The guard will take good care of him revealing they have a new understanding, him and the guard. Audrey and Dwight look to the interrogation room where a mountain lion growls. He says, “We’ll take him later.” She nods and asks Dwight how he knew that Mr. Buckley would be on the hill. “He was a ranger like me and that’s what I would have done. I just didn’t know where on the hill.” She thanks him and tells him you could have asked for help looking. He nods saying he’s used to working alone.

Willow enters, worried about Ryan. Audrey assures her he’ll be okay and comment that she’s probably going to leave Haven now. She says, “I have the house. If you hear about anyone that needs records collated and filed I’m their girl.” Audrey then says, “I think we may actually have something. If you’re not scared by the troubles.” She shakes her head.

At The Gull Nathan drinks and complains that he can’t cure himself or remember who he is. Duke of all people misses the old Nathan, though he was a pain in the ass, and says, “maybe you should figure out who the new Nathan is, for instance do you like scotch” and they have a drink together. Nathan feels better. They’re closer.

At the morgue the next day the attendant tells them that Shelby wasn’t killed by a Mountain Lion. She has a shotgun wound. Dwight says he’ll make sure that Ryan knows this. But the coroner says there’s more, the shotgun wouldn’t have killed her and the claw marks are post-mortem. He can’t explain how she died. But there was a strange mark on her body, etched into the skin filled with blood. It looks like a fan with curved lines through it and a thick edge. Audrey flashes back, she’s seen the symbol before but can’t remember where. She tells them she knows the symbol but she doesn’t know from where, but wherever it is it’s not good – “I think this is just the beginning”.

S4:E1: "New Life" Disappointed the troubles are not gone, Jordon and a few rouge members of the guard hold Duke, Audrey, Vince, Dave, Dwight, and Nathan captive in a warehouse as the troubles get worse.

Duke, Audrey, Vince, Dave, Dwight, and Nathan are unconscious locked in a room, tied up.

Outside in a large room Jordon and the guard argue about what to do with them. Kirk, the leader of the rouge group is upset they have Vincent, he’s their supreme leader. He’s done right by them. Jordon doesn’t care she’s enraged, touches him so he’s in excruciating pain, “the troubles are not gone.” She says, “I demand to know why?” Everyone looks to her with respect, including Kirk, all of them are wondering the same thing. She is now their leader. They agree to keep the others asleep, pulling them out one at a time. Kirk, the former leader wants to talk to Vince first. Jordon says let’s bring out both of them – referring to Vince and Dave, we’ll get more out of them that way.

With Vince and Dave tied up to chairs, Kirk is apologetic that this has happened but everyone’s upset the troubles are not gone, as they would have been if Audrey had gone into the barn.
Dave and Vince fight about Vince being not only in the guard but leader “which is not working out so well now” Dave says annoyed. Vince expresses all he knows that Audrey said the troubles would be gone, they don’t know what happened. Frustrated they don’t get any real answers out of them, the guard chloroform them again. Then the guard pull out Nathan, Jordon knows, instinctively, that he prevented Audrey from going in the barn.

Nathan, tied to the chair is confused asks them what they want? “We want to know what you did and how to undo it? How do we get the barn back?” Nathan doesn’t know what they’re talking about and it becomes clear he doesn’t even know who they are. And, when a skinny man named Slim hits him, not knowing his trouble, Nathan asks why he didn’t feel that. Nathan doesn’t even know his own name.
The guard wonders if Nathan’s faking his amnesia. Jordon unsure asks to speak with him alone and tells the other guys that they can work on Audrey.

Slim and a short buff man they call Don take Audrey out and tie her to a chair.
In the small room Vince, Dave, Duke and Dwight lay on the ground. Dwight and Duke start to wake up and wake Vince and Dave. Duke complains about his head. Dwight asks, “Where are we?”. Vince and Dave tell them a warehouse being questioned by the guard. Dwight asks how they got there. How do you think, Duke says, “the guard brought us here?” Dwight comments that Vincent leads the guard. Dave comments that “he doesn’t anymore, not that you ever told me.” The brothers bicker. Dwight takes charge they need to get out of there and be quiet about it. “Where’s Nathan and Audrey?” Dwight asks Vince. Dave says, “they took them” Duke says, “That’s not good.” Thinking patiently Dwight says, “I got an idea.”

In the small room, Jordon alone with Nathan plays tough cop, asking Nathan if he remembers what he did to her how she loved him and he betrayed her. He says, “I’m sorry.” Apologizing, “I don’t’ remember what any of it.” Jordon still unsure unties him and asks him to touch her. As he takes her face with both hands she moans in pleasure. She leans over and kisses him and he kisses her back.
Don and Slim watch Audrey wake up and ask her what she did. Guilt ridden she tells them “I wanted to end the troubles.” Don hits her, “but you didn’t.” He says and hits her again. She doesn’t flinch her lip bleeding. “You can hit me all you want, it won’t change things, I wish it would.” She feels terrible about shooting Nathan and shakes upset. “I wasn’t going to do it at first. I was going to go into the barn but then…” Slim hits her upset saying, “You don’t even care.” Kirk stops him and asks her again what she did. She’s really shaken up by the last few days and slowly explains in an emotional way that “I shot the man I love, in the head to end the troubles because I care about all of you.” Kirk mentions that “Nathan’s alive.” She says “I can’t explain that. He just…healed and the barn disappeared.”

Kirk pulls Don and Slim aside and says, “shot in the head could explain why he can’t remember anything” Audrey overhearing asks, “he can’t remember anything?” concerned for Nathan. Kirk turns to her sympathetic, “Not even his own name.” he says to her and she begs to see Nathan. Don tells her to shut up as Slim goes to tell Jordon.
Audrey pleads to see him saying, “Ever since he came back I’ve had this nagging feeling in my gut and I can’t explain it.”

Slim, the messenger on his way to Jordon looks to Bert, a bald man standing guard in front of the room the others are being held in. Slim asks where’s Frosk. Bert offended says “I don’t know. I’m not his keeper.”
In a small room, Nathan and Jordon are kissing. Nathan pulls away and asks, “Where’s the woman I was with?” Jordon pushes him away. “They’re fine.” She says annoyed he’s still thinking of Audrey when he doesn’t even know who he is. “Why are you holding us? Who is she to me?” Nathan asks.

Slim knocks on the door and Jordon opens it, “What?” she says annoyed, “Kirk wanted me to tell you, Audrey says she shot him in the head. Said it might be why he doesn’t remember.”Jordon shocked and disgusted reacts, “But he’s fine.” Slim nods, “Audrey can’t explain that.” Jordon turns to Nathan. “Okay, thanks.” She says and Slim leaves.
Nathan, who doesn’t overhear asks, “What did he say?” Jordon closing the door says, “Nothing.” She approaches Nathan slowly, “The woman, she’s your partner, you’re a police officer.” Nathan nods, “I must have been in some kind of accident.” Jordon nods, “Something like that” She finally has something to turn Nathan against Audrey she starts to tell him that she shot him but only gets as far as “She-“ when there’s a loud boom. It comes from outside the room smoke comes into the room. Men are screaming. Jordon rushes outside Nathan follows her. Kirk and Don also show up. Bert, standing guard is screaming at Slim. “I don’t know why he’s been gone so long. I’m not his keeper.” Jordon tells Bert to calm down.” Flames burst out of nowhere behind her as Bert looks around angry. Bert bursts into flames. Nathan looks on in horror, “What the hell is going on?”

Nathan is freaking out. “What is going on, why did that guy burst into flames?” Slim looks over Nathan, “He really doesn’t remember anything?” Offended Nathan looks at Slim, “I can hear you.” Slim asks, “Why isn’t he tied up.” Jordon shakes her head, “He doesn’t remember anything. He’s not a threat.”  Slim takes Nathan back to the chair and ties him up.

Jordon asks Slim, “Why was Bert so upset?” Slim looks to her, “Frosk, he’s not here.” Jordon annoyed demands to know where he is, “He was supposed to chloroform them.” She says and rushed to the locked room, and opens it, Slim follows. Dwight, Duke, Vince and Dave are lying down as if chloroformed. Then they strike simultaneously and it’s a standoff. Dwight tries to negotiation their release, “now we’re just going to walk out of here, no harm done.” “But not without Audrey.” Duke says, “And Nathan,” Vince says. “Okay fine,” Duke shrugs, if he has to save Nathan he guesses he will. “Where are they?” Duke presses. “Where’s Frosk?” Jordon asks, “Who?” Dwight asks. “We haven’t seen Frosk.” Vincent says, “I swear we didn’t do anything.” Kirk demands that, “No one is leaving this building till we find Frosk.” Vincent offers to help them find him. Duke objects but Dwight is inclined to help. “Not without Audrey.” Duke says. “And Nathan.” Dave adds.

Together everyone goes over to the large room where Audrey is held and Slim brings Nathan and they all stand around. “What’s going on?” Nathan asks. “We’re going to be alright.” Dwight says and puts his hand on his shoulder in a friendly manner. “Good.” Nathan nods, and turns to him and asks, “And you are?” Dwight looks at him shocked, “He doesn’t remember who he is.” Audrey says unable to look at him guilty. Duke asks if she’s alright, Audrey nods but she’s obviously upset. “Are we getting out of here?” She asks eager, Duke’s never seen her this scared and he’s worried. “Not until we find Frosk.” Jordon says, “What did you do to him?” Audrey is about to break down in tears, “I didn’t do anything to him. I swear your men have been with me the whole time.” Dwight and Duke look at her concerned, “Are you alright?” Dwight asks. Audrey takes a pause, “It’s been a long day.” She takes a deep breath, looks to Jordon and nods agreeing to help, “If we’re all caught up, let’s find Frosk." Jordon says.

Dwight convinces them to put the guns away, since they’ll only shoot him. Nathan asks how that is. Dwight explains that’s his trouble and explains the troubles to him as they search in the same team of three. They search around in teams. Dave is with Jordon and Audrey. Nathan is with Kirk and Dwight. As they walk they talk about Dwight’s daughter’s accidental death. Kirk apologizes and Dwight doesn’t want to hear it from him. Vince is with Duke, Slim and Don, two guard members, since they don’t trust Duke though Vince vouches for him.

Audrey with Dave and Jordon asks , “What’s Frosk’s trouble?” Jordon looking ahead answers, “He can become goo travel around like that.” Audrey nods, “Like in that old TV show with the teen exposed to toxic chemicals.” Jordon smiles and says, “Yeah.” Audrey comments, “I loved that show.” Jordon says, “Me too.”  Audrey shakes her head like a bobble head, “At least Audrey did.” Audrey says. “What do you mean?” Jordon asks looking to Audrey. Audrey explains, “My memories are copies from another person.” Jordon with a pondering look says, “Oh, I always wondered how that worked.” “Vincent didn’t tell you that.” Dave says surprised, “No, we’re told what we need to know.” Jordon says kind of annoyed. Jordon stiffens, “Let’s move.”

Duke’s group runs into Nathan’s group, as they search and they decide to continue together. Duke turns to Nathan, “This probably isn’t the best time to tell you but you owe me some money.” Nathan pulls out his wallet as if he’s going to pay him right now. Dwight stops Nathan, “Don’t do that.” He says to Nathan, and tells Duke, “this isn’t the time.” Duke smirks, “You really can’t remember.”

Audrey and Jordon find Frosk, he’s a puddle. They call everyone around. With everyone coming around tensions are high, Audrey says, “I think with the upset of the barn not leaving his ability took over.” Jordon nods and says, “We need to calm down.”

Don looks over at Frosk dead now because he’s a puddle, and upset he floats into the air. Jordon tries to catch him but she can’t he’s floating on the ceiling. They call out his name tell him to hang on. Duke jokes saying, “what the big deal? He can just hang out.” Jordon frantic explains, “If he doesn’t come down, he’ll take off the roof and in the open sky.” Jordon says. Audrey knows, “He’ll rise so high he’ll suffocate.”

Audrey has the idea to get a rope to get Don down. They won’t let her do it so Slim and Kirk do it try to pull him down but Don feels it getting stronger and he blows the roof off taking Slim guy with him even though Dwight and Duke try to help. Slim and Don float off into the sky. There’s nothing they can do. Kirk so upset and alone with just Jordon starts to puff out, like a blow fish. Jordon says, “Oh no. He’s going to blow.” Nathan presses his hands against him trying to stop him and Kirk normalizes. Kirk stops puffing up. He tries to do it but can’t. Nathan has heeled him of his trouble. He can’t go all blow fish and he knows it was Nathan. He’s grateful of Nathan. Audrey is surprised Nathan can heal, she’s also a little intimidated, something is really bothering her, getting under her skin. Jordon goes up to Nathan wondering “how did you?” Nathan says, “I don’t know” and when she grabs him he unintentionally pushes Jordon towards Kirk. She tries to get away from Kirk but her skin makes contact and Kirk feels no pain from her touch. “You’re healed,” Audrey says and assumes aloud, “Nathan must have done it earlier.” Vince then realizes and announces, “That’s how all this stops the troubles” Vince turn to Nathan. “He stops the troubles.”

Outside the warehouse Jordon thanks them all and says she’ll be heading outside Haven, find anyone that needs help tell them there’s hope in Haven. She thanks Nathan, hugs him, wishes Audrey and him luck – though it’s visually obvious she’s jealous of their romance. When she leaves. Nathan asks, “What was that about?” Since Audrey has already turned away from him Dave says, “It’s complicated.”

Back at the police station Audrey is in the office; she’s asked the others besides Nathan to come by. Dwight says he got Nathan set up back at his house. She looks very concerned even fearful it’s strange for Audrey. Duke brings up how it’s going to be complicated with Nathan curing people of their troubles – no one can know they must be careful with this information to protect Nathan. All agree, if Duke agrees everyone else should. And there’s another problem, Audrey’s still here and the guard as they’ve seen isn’t going to be happy. Vince agrees to subdue the guard with Jordon and Kirk’s help and Dave says they’ll write a story in the Herald about the asteroids. Vince mentions, some people will need the cure in the future and those they are aware of from past encounters but keeping it a secret will be tough. Dwight tells them that he’ll deal with that, he always has and suggest they work systematically and as the need arises. “Nathan doesn’t even know how to heal people.” Dave says. Dwight interrupts, “getting him to remember who he is, is a priority.” All agree. Dwight says they’ll be there for Nathan, and Audrey. All agree she thanks them and says she brought them there for another reason, “Ever since Nathan came back she’s had a bad feeling, there’s something’s coming something very, very bad.” Knowing Audrey doesn’t scare easily they know something bad has to be coming.

The next morning a tall young woman with a feminine muscular build and silver blond hair that flows down her back pulls up her sunglasses. Wearing torn Jeans and a t-shirt she walks down the streets of Haven and into the Good Shepard Church.

Haven Season 3 Finale Continued...Julia's Rewrite
Audrey exits the barn to say goodbye and says goodbye to all her friends leaving Nathan for last. She kisses Nathan, the man she loves, ready to go into the barn and away forever. Then she pulls Nathan’s gun out and aims it at him, everyone, is shocked. “Audrey what are you doing?” Dave asks ((Dwight has left to start clean up). Apologetic tears running down her cheeks she says, “It’s the only way to stop the troubles…for good. I can’t be selfish Nathan.” He stands there unmoved to save himself. She shoots him in the head he falls dead. Hearing the shot Dwight runs back. He sees Audrey laying against Nathan's body crying. Duke, Vince, Dave, and Dwight stand around shocked.

As she holds him crying he begins to glow right where she’s connected to him, the barn glows resonating with her. Dave says, “Look, look” at the site of Nathan’s wounds healing. Audrey gets up and Nathan wakes up. Audrey hugs a disoriented Nathan.

The keeper of the barn, Audrey’s guide a man they refer to as Agent Howard nods knowing Audrey has made her choice. He and the barn disappear. The asteroids that have been falling on Haven stop. The barn gone Jordon leading, the guard, a group of trouble people who insisted Audrey go in the barn or else come back and seeing Audrey they are upset she has not gone in the barn since that means the troubles are still in Haven. Their troubles will plague them. The guard pull their guns on the group.

“No.” Vince, Dave’s brother says, “The troubles are gone for good. Audrey found another way.”

Jordon and the others put their guns down. Jordon with her skin, grabs Duke and Dwight they writhe in pain, which is her trouble – never able to touch someone without causing incredible pain.

“No they’re not.” She says referring to the troubles not being gone. She cringes in anger. Audrey looks shocked, why didn’t it work. The Guard jumps them knocking them all out.

Why I chose to Rewrite Syfy's Haven

Season four of the TV show Haven, airing on the Syfy network has both confused and disappointed me.

Haven is a cop show based on the Stephen King Novel "The Colorado Kid". It's about a town with troubled people, people who have abilities that cause trouble, death, mayhem, and just plain weirdness. The cops, Audrey Parker and Nathan Wuornos investigate the troubles to figure out who is causing it so they can help that person and as the do they discover secrets about the town and themselves.

While I didn’t like Season 4 I think it was in the season finale of Season 3 where my confusion which lead to my disappointment really started as characters and the environment started behaving in ways that violate their character development and basic logic (which continues and gets worse in Season 4).

See…Audrey through the three Seasons has discovered that she appears in Haven every 27 years as a young woman with a new name and personality. She only stays for a short time and when she leaves by way of “the barn”, which isn’t really a barn, the troubles go away. But Audrey is in love with Nathan who loving her too doesn’t want to let her go. When she learns that she can stay in Haven and end the troubles but she’ll have to kill someone she loves, namely Nathan, I don’t see her ignoring that. Audrey has never been a selfish character and the number of people she’ll save is astronomical.  But the writers choose to have her ignore it and go in the barn. Nathan so angry turns to the apparent keeper of the barn who has served as Audrey’s guide, shoots him apparently destroying the barn. I found this ludicrous that his ‘death’ would destroy the barn, what Audrey is traveling in to leave. No one would design a system where the death of a person regularly in danger would destroy a hope. Whatever is happening with the troubles and Audrey has to make more sense than that.

I understand the writers were stuck between a rock and a hard place. Killing Nathan was going to ruin the show because the troubles would end and that’s the whole plot mechanism of the show. There would be no Haven TV show without the troubles. For three days I sat with this problem and one morning I came up with the perfect solution. It might enlighten you to know that at the time I was doing research for a paper about the incarnation of Christ – I’m in seminary.

I use a lot of Season 1-3 references in my "Julia" version.
