Teaser
At the Gull, Audrey, Nathan, Daniel, Sam, Duke, James, and his girlfriend Lyla are all having dinner laughing. Daniel is telling a story about Audrey’s childhood, so she’s turning bright red. To change the subject, she asks Sam and Duke what’s new.
Sam and Duke reveal that they are going to move into the manse, which surprises the group since they didn’t think they’d ever get Duke off his boat. Sam and Duke, hands clasped under the table are united in this. Sam tells them, “Duke’s going to start taking more trips with the boat, so I’m going to need a place when he’s gone.”
Audrey nods, flashing back to when Duke outside the Gull told her that he was going to start working as a CI for the FBI. He reveals he’s telling her because if anything happens to him, Sam’s going to need her. Audrey nods, joking about how hell has frozen over, “five years ago you’d never have considered working with the FBI.” They laugh.
Back at the Dinner, James is beaming smiling wide. Lyla, his tattooed girlfriend, is a little unnerved by it and demands to know what’s going on. James simply says that he loves every one of them, looking each of them in the eyes around the table he talks about how they’ve been attacked by witches, sea monsters, sent into different time lines, battled bugs filling the town and no matter what’s happened they’ve gotten through it together. He declares for him, blood-related or not you are my family. Daniel announces, “Let’s drink to that.” And they do.
On the other side of town, a young man wearing an “I dream of Jeanie” t-shirt goes into the dark and gloomy basement of a shop. Surrounded by storage boxes, he lights up some weed. Suddenly there’s movement. Out of nowhere, a bat comes flying. He jumps as it escapes through the door he propped open. Taking a breath to relax, there’s a ding from the floor above.
In the shop, a teenage boy rings a bell to get the attention of someone behind the counter of the box store. The young man comes up to help him. It’s daylight outside. They know each other well, and converse about a party they went to out in the woods revealing that the smoker stayed longer than the rest.
The teenage customer gets the boxes he came for, complaining about cleaning out his grandmother’s house. The young man and the teen do a special handshake and a fist bump. Then the teen leaves.
Once at home with the boxes his mother nags him about where he’s been and orders him to pack up the attic. Groaning about his mother getting off his back as he walks up the attic stairs a perky blond Jeanie appears, “Your wish is my command, master.” The Jeanie says. The boy hears his mother scream. He runs downstairs and sees his mom hooked into the wall, dead. Turning to the Jeanie beside him he says, “I didn’t want this.”

Act I
That day Audrey and Nathan are on the scene of the mother’s murder. Officers are clear that it’s a trouble because she’s been hooked into the wall, no one is strong enough to do that unless they’re troubled.
As Nathan and Audrey learn time of death, that her name was Callie Davon and that her son, Luke, found her they look to the teenage boy. He’s silent, in shock.
Nathan goes over to talk to him. Empathetic that this is a hard time Nathan asks him questions about who might have had it in for his mother. The boy doesn’t know, she was loved by everyone. In shock, he mourns her saying, she was a good mom.
An officer, officer Pickings takes him over to his dad’s house putting his hand on the boy’s shoulder.
Nathan looks at Audrey they both know they have no leads. Audrey orders the officers to canvas the area, see if anyone saw anyone come in or leave around her time of death. Nathan agrees to call Daniel, Dave, and Vince to see if they’ve got any ideas.

At the manse as Duke is helping Sam carry in boxes his phone rings, his new phone from the FBI. Both Sam and Duke look at it nervous. Duke answers it. Sam watches as Duke listens to the call and says, “Today? What’s the play? Just- Yeah.” He says sighing heavily and says, “Okay.”
When Duke hangs up the phone, Sam looks to him, as he looks at her forlorn. “You’re leaving today.” She seems to ask rather than say.
“Yeah” with heavy shoulders he looks to her, “you got everything you need.”
“Almost,” She says and looks to Duke embracing him she kisses him deeply and looks deep into his eyes—he was what she was missing.
He smiles, “I wanted to christen the place tonight.” Duke says jokingly. Then he looks to her forlorn.
“What’s going on Duke? Why are you so gloomy? Did they threaten me if I knew?”
Duke sighs an uncomfortable laugh as he pulls from her, “No. It’s just…it’s a job, no sting just work to establish my cred.” He says like he was quoting the lame officer. Turning to Sam, he’s worried about what she’ll say, “It’s smuggling.”
Sam takes his hand, “Authorized by the FBI. You were originally doing this out of greed now you’re doing it to help people.”
Looking to her, as he clutches her hand he says, “I don’t know if I can make the distinction.”
Sam looks into his eyes as she takes his other hand, “You just took orders from the FBI without any attitude or trickery. You are a different Duke than you were two years ago. I have faith in you. Besides now I’m not holding you back.”
Duke furrows his brow confused.
Sam adds, “I honestly believe that God gives us the skills we have to use them. Now you can use all your skills.”
Duke relaxes and Sam stepping up closer to him. She leans against  him and gives him a lustful look, “Well, you’ll have to come home to use all of them.” She says.
Duke smiles and kisses Sam deeply.

Audrey and Nathan enter the station and meet Daniel. He accosts her with, “You alright?”
Audrey chuckles, “I’m fine dad.”
Daniel follows them inside the office.
Nathan asks confused, “Why are we at mock 1?”
“I heard you had a trouble,” Daniel says as Audrey sits down in her office chair.
“We deal with troubles all the time,” Nathan reveals sitting down at his desk.
“This one is being particularly crafty,” Audrey says in her office acting calm.
Leaning over her desk as if to appear more intimidating Daniel yells, “Do not be so calm.”
Audrey stunned yells, “Dad.”
“After what happened with Danielle, your mother is planning something to kill us all. No matter what you see, a simple trouble is never a simple trouble. Not now.”
Nathan interrupts, “She doesn’t want to kill Audrey she wants to make her a witch. We’ve proven she can’t do that.”
Looking to Nathan and Audrey with seriousness, Daniel says, “That’s exactly why killing her might be on her mind now. You’re not safe anymore.” Daniel says in a tone that makes Audrey and Nathan aware he is serious.
Audrey places her hand on Daniel’s, “Dad, I’m never safe. But we have to move forward with this. I could use your help.”
Daniel looks to her attentive.

Later in Audrey and Nathan’s office, Daniel, Audrey, Nathan, Vince, and Dave are present with the file in front of them, copied for them.
“I haven’t seen this before.” Daniel sighs, “There was someone who was a magnet, could do this but there had to be a magnet on the other side.”
“We have a potential suspect in the case,” Vince says next to Dave as they stand in the office holding the ledger.
“He didn’t do it,” Dave argues.
“He could have.” Vince says, “He has the ability.”
Nathan demands to know, “Who?”
Vince explains there’s a man with super strength, but Dave is right he doesn’t have a motive.
Nathan suggests he could have been hired.
Vince shakes his head, “He’s a sweetheart.”
Dave adds, “Think mice and men.”
Daniel, lifting himself off learning on the desk says, “We still need a motive, for the person who wanted her dead.”
Audrey, from behind her desk says, “Her son was right, everyone loved her, and no one went in or out of that house.”
“Well,” Nathan says, he has an idea, “she did have a teenage son.” He speaks it like everyone should know teenage boys don’t like their mothers, “Maybe we should talk to him again. It seemed like he was hiding something from us.”
Audrey nods.

Back at Luke’s, the teenager’s home, the teen Luke gets some glasses from a cupboard of the hallway-like kitchen. The Jeanie stands by him leaning on the kitchen sink. Perky and waiting, she taunts him saying, “I can make all your wishes come true.”
Annoyed Luke ignores her and yells to the other room, “would you like ice in your water?”
Nathan and Audrey in the other room say, “Either way.” Talking amongst themselves they are eager to talk to him knowing, as Nathan repeats, “He’s not telling us everything. Audrey is in agreement.
In the kitchen as Luke fills the water glass the Jeanie taunts him, “I could grant you a beautiful woman to love you. Make you a hero.” She says pointing to his Star Wars t-shirt.”
Annoyed he turns to her, “I wish I didn’t have any more wishes.” He declares.
The Jeanie’s face goes serious, an evil glint in her eye, “Your wish is my command.”
Audrey and Nathan hear a thump and a crunch. Running into the kitchen, they find the teenage boy sliced into the wall just like his mother, his neck broken.

Act II
Audrey and Nathan are outside on the way to the car, the house taped up as a crime scene is. “This is a serial trouble now,” Nathan reports to Dwight over his cell.
Audrey starts the car with Nathan beside her, “And we’re no closer to finding out who is responsible.” She says.
Dwight in the police station says, “They may not even know they’re doing it.”
“We’re going to retrace Luke’s steps, see if he can lead us to the person troubled.”
Dwight from the station declares, “I’ll call James and Daniel to do the same for Luke’s mother, where you meet is where they met the troubled person.”

Outside Dwight’s office, as Dwight is on the phone the officer who took Luke home sits at a desk. The Jeanie, the same perky blond, appears to him. She leans against the desk and says, “Hello master. I am here to grant you whatever you desire.”
The officer is confused and says, “What? Did Alex put you up to this?”
A file clerk coming over asks, him who he’s talking to. He can’t see the Jeanie.
“I am the Jeanie here to grant your every desire. What is it that you desire?”
Under his breath, the officer says, “A million dollars would be nice.”
The Jeanie responds, “Your wish is my command.”
The officer questions, “Just like that?”
“It’s in your account.” The Jeanie says smugly.
Skeptical the officer goes to his bank website on his computer.

Dwight in his office sits at his computer as the officer enters, “I’m handing in my resignation.” Officer Pickings says gleefully.
Dwight’s confused, “Pickings? John? What’s going on?”
“My wife and I have enough to move to California.”
Dwight nods, “Good luck.”
“Thanks,” John says, the Jeanie next to him smiles happily. Dwight is unable to see her, but John gives her a look like she should follow him out. She does.

Lyla and James are at her place, making out on the couch when James phone buzzes. “Damn.” He says, “I missed messages from Dwight.”
Lyla knows he has to go and says it out loud disappointed, “It’s your day off.”
“I have to go in,” James says grabbing his jacket. He kisses her one last time before he leaves. She’s unhappy.
When James opens the door to leave, Daniel stands at the entrance ready to knock, “Let’s go.” Daniel says pointing with his head for them to leave.

Outside, on the way to the car, Daniel gives James a file, “This is everything Audrey and Nathan have on the mother’s murder.”
As they get into the car, James looks at the file, while Daniel drives, “She had Dave and Vince on her calendar the day she died.” James says.
          “We’ll head there,” Daniel says.

Duke on his boat is in the middle of the ocean anchored close to another boat, “Is the product to your satisfaction?” He asks a stern Asian man who looks down at an open box.
The man nods, closing a box open in front of him, “Yes, it’s good.” He turns to Duke, “I thought you were out of the business.”
“Just took a break.” Duke says, “Can I help you with something else?”
“Next month,” the man says, “Same pick up.”
Duke nods, “Will do.” He says as the man hands him a wad of cash. Duke flips through it to make sure it’s all there, “Pleasure doing business for you.”
Duke lifts the anchor of his boat, and the two boats drift apart.

James and Daniel talk to Vince and Dave about Luke’s mother, Callie, “You met with Callie the day she died.” James questions.
“Yes, about the Spring Festival. She organizes it every year.” Vince says.
“We always help with the advertising.” Dave adds, “I hope they don’t have to cancel it this year.”
Vince shakes his head, “No, we won’t let that happen.”
“Did she seem okay then?” Daniel asks.
Both Dave and Vince actually agree that she seems fine. They reveal she was stressed about her mother’s recent passing, and she had to clean out the house for it. Other than that Luke’s mom, Callie seemed fine.
“Do you know where she might have gone after here?”
Dave remembers she was looking for boxes for her mom’s place saying, “We sent her to the little store on 5th, the box recycle place.”
Vince comments, “She wasn’t thrilled about going there, due to an unsavory element.”
James nods. Daniel looks at him confused. And James tells him, “The potheads hang out there.”
Daniel shocked asks, “How do you know that?”
James responds, “I’m a cop, it’s my job to know. That would be a perfect place for Mavis to plant a trouble. They don’t like cops.”

Audrey and Nathan show up at the box store, “The text came from this location.” Audrey says holding a Luke’s Star Wars phone. Nathan and Audrey enter the store. They approach the young man at the register, the same man that helped Luke. Around the room are posters, a great deal of “I dream of Jeanie.”
“Dillon is it?” Nathan asks as he approaches the counter.
“Yeah, why are you asking?” the guy says as he pulls tape off old boxes.
“You knew Luke, Luke Swenson?”
“Yeah?” Dillon says wearily.
“Have you seen him today?” Audrey asks.
“He came by this morning.” The boy says, and with his foot, he shuffles the weed on the ground below the counter, it turns over clanking against the ground.
Nathan goes behind the counter, asking “What are you doing?”
The young man starts to run, but Audrey grabs him just as Nathan sees the tray and says, “It’s weed,” relaxing not worried about the drug.
“We only smoked a little bit. He just lost his mom. He wanted something to help.” The young man wines.
Audrey lets him go, “We don’t care about the weed.”
“You’re cops.” The man says, “I know you’re Audrey and Nathan Warnous.”
“And this is a murder investigation,” Audrey says.
“Luke’s mom?” Dillon says, “That is trippy even for this town.”
Bluntly as Nathan raises to a standing position he reveals, “Luke is dead too. Same way his mom went.”
Dillion freaks, annoyed he groans swaying from side to side, he lashes out punching at the wall just missing Nathan. Audrey grabs him.

Act III
In the police station Dillon sits in the interrogation room, “If Luke’s dead, I could be next. I don’t want to sit here and answer questions.”
Audrey sitting across from him as Nathan leans against the wall says, “Answering questions is the only way we’ll figure out who’s doing this.”
“You mean what?” Dillon says implying a thing did this.
Audrey and Nathan don’t respond to such a preposterous idea, they know it’s not preposterous.
Dillon leans forward, “Luke told me what happened to his mom, how she was skewered. That’s not a who but a what. I don’t want that to happen to me.”
“We’re the best chance you have of avoiding that,” Audrey assures him.
Nathan adds, “Just tell us what you remember with Luke.”
Just then Audrey receives a text, reacting from it she asks, “Why didn’t you tell us Luke’s mom came to see you?”
Nathan understands that she’s going off information from the text.
“She wasn’t ever there.”
Audrey intimidating him argues, “She needed boxes to pack up her mom’s house.”
Dillion responds, “Yeah, Luke came to get the boxes.”
“Luke?” Nathan says surprised. Audrey and Nathan look to each other confused.
“Before she was killed?” Nathan questions.
“Yeah,” Dillon says intimidated.

Outside the interrogation room in the police station, James and Daniel enter, talking about meeting up with Audrey and Nathan. A middle-aged man shoves through them and enters the station with a lofty attitude. He raises an FBI badge above his head and yells, “I’m here from the FBI, I’m Agent Waller, looking for John Pickings, an officer that works here.”
Dwight saying thank you, “he’s here” through the phone, puts down the phone. He goes out into the main room. Dwight at the door to his office says, “John Pickings left this morning.”
The Agent Waller tells Dwight, “I’ll need two officers to escort me to his house and arrest him.”
“For what?” Dwight asks annoyed but holding his composure.
“He’s committed cyber bank robbery,” Waller tells Dwight annoyed at his questioning.
James, overhearing, starts to laugh.
The Agent Waller looks to him annoyed.
James says, “He doesn’t know what Google is.”
“A search engine,” Daniel says. He, a man from the 1700s knows, but John doesn’t.
Dwight turns to James and Daniel, “Go with him, he’s probably at home. I’m sure this is all a misunderstanding.”
“What about the case?” Daniel asks.
“Audrey and Nathan will work it?” Dwight tells them.

Daniel and James walk up to a small house and knock on the door.
Agent Waller annoyed says, “You’re just going to knock on the door.”
James and Daniel nod.
They hear John’s Wife Sheila ask him, “Do you want to take the furniture?”
Opening the door, John says, “We can take everything.”
Agent Waller pulls out his badge and says, “John Pickings, you’re under arrest for cyber bank robbery.”
The agent looks to James and Daniel annoyed, “Well cuff him.”
James pulls out his cuffs, “We’ll sort this out John, at the station.”

At the station in the interrogation room, John cuffed declares he didn’t do it.
The Agent demands to know, “Then how did a million dollars end up in your bank account.”
John doesn’t have an answer.
In a corner of the interrogation room, the Jeanie stands, “I could get you out of this.” She says intriguing.
John with his head in his hands says, “I wish I could go home.”
James asks Agent Waller if he can talk to John, indicating alone he wants to talk to him alone.
Agent Waller allows it getting up from the table he says, “I’ll prepare his transfer. I don’t need anything else to convict him.”
Daniel stands straight from his position of leaning against the wall and says, “Let’s talk to the Chief first.”
Agent Waller nods ever so slightly, but his stern looks doesn’t seem to be of one that’s on board.

Agent Waller exits the interrogation room texting on his phone. Daniel follows him. In the main room of the police station, Sheila sits. Seeing, Daniel and Agent Waller exit the interrogation room, she stands expectantly, worried and waiting to hear. Daniel turns to Sheila and says, “Just a bit…” He’s about to put his hand on her shoulder when Agent Waller heads to Dwight’s office he feels he needs to go with him, so he leaves Sheila, not putting his hand on her shoulder.
Agent Waller barges into Dwight’s office and says, “I just got approval to transfer him.”
Daniel bursts in, “The evidence they have is circumstantial.”
Agent Waller says, “These orders are coming from over your heads you don’t have a choice.”

In the interrogation room, James sits with John, “John you can tell me anything. If you made a deal with someone to do something or…” John cuts him off.
“No.” He insists he’s not a crooked cop.
“Could someone be angry with you? Or could it be a trouble.” James asks but when John doesn’t answer James continues irritated and empathetic, “I can’t help you if you don’t tell me what’s going on.”
John looks up to James and says, “It will all work out. I’ll be alright.”
Just then Agent Waller enters and announces, “You’re being transferred to Arlington.” The door open Sheila stands behind the agent.
“Home sweet home, just like you wished.” The Jeanie says.
Sheila looks to John, “That’s where you grew up.”
As John is taken out into the main room, he says, “Wait, wait.”
Dwight apologizes to John, “There’s nothing I can do.”
John resigns himself to his fate as the Jeanie says, “Now things are starting to get interesting.”
John’s placed in the back of Agent Waller’s car. Sitting in the back of Agent Wallers car John whispers under his breath, “You did this. All of it? Don’t you dare talk to my wife? I wish you wouldn’t talk to my wife.”

Sam, walking down the street to the church is on the phone with Duke. Duke is on his boat fiddling with some mechanics, “I’ll be home later tonight.”
“Everything went okay?” Sam asks worried as if this isn’t the first time she’s said it within this conversation.
“Everything went fine. It’s all done.”
“You feel okay about it?” Sam asks
Duke looks up at the sky, putting down the machine he’s working on annoyed Sam won’t stop talking about it.
Just then Sam is approached by a woman, John’s wife. She’s nervous about John saying, “Reverend Lewis you have to help my husband, he didn’t do this.”
Sam refers back to Duke, “Hon I got to go. We’ll talk when you get back tonight.” Sam hangs up as Duke hangs up on his end saying, “prayer really does work.”
Sam with John’s wife Sheila places her hand on Sheila’s shoulder and asks her, “Start from the beginning. What’s going on with John, what didn’t he do?

In Sam’s office, Sheila sits as Sam makes some tea on the other side of the office. The Jeanie shows up in front of Sheila, simply standing there making her presence clear as she puts on a helpful face of expectation. Sheila notices her and glares, “No, you got us into this mess.”
Sam looks to Sheila, “pardon me?” she says and drops the cup of tea seeing a Jeanie standing in the room. In shock, “You’re a Jeanie.” Sam says.
“Yes.” The Jeanie says happily smiling, she claps her hands in amusement, “Good more people to play with.”
“Don’t trust her Sam.” Sheila warns, “She got John into this when he wished for a million dollars.”
The Jeanie turns to Sam, “Tell Sheila, I can set her husband free. She simply has to wish for it.”
“Don’t worry Sheila, I’d never trust a Jeanie.”
The Jeanie is assumed, “You will…everyone always makes a wish when things get desperate, which they’re about it.” The Jeanie laughs happily.

As John is being transported by the FBI. Mavis and the other witches, using a police-issued bow and arrow stand in the bushes near the side of the road and shoots out the ties of the transport car. The car skids and turns over.

Act IV
John runs through the forest, his cuffs still on.
Sam in her office with the Jeanie, thoroughly offended that Sam won’t look at her, asks Sheila, John’s wife, “Tell me what happened?”
“You have all the wishes you could want.” The Jeanie says.
Sheila starts to relay to Sam what happened, “My husband came home from work early saying he’d won the lottery. We’ve always wanted to move to California, so we were going to do that when I saw her. He explained that he’d wished for a million dollars and now he’s in prison for bank robbery.”
“Don’t make any wishes Jeanie’s are notoriously evil,” Sam warns.
The Jeanie offended laying on the desk says, “Evil, I’m not evil. That’s such a mean word to use.”
“Don’t even look at her.” Sam warns Sheila and comforts her rubbing her back, “I’m going to call Nathan and Audrey.”

Back at the police station, the now bruised FBI agent and Dwight have a yelling match in his office. He blames Dwight for the escape, “This is your equipment the serial numbers are registered to the police department.” He says putting down the arrows he found in the tired of his car.
“This was not done by my authority! If you’d waited to take him, we could have figured out what was really going on.” Dwight yells back.
“You will help me get John back or-“
“Or what?” Dwight asks.

Outside Dwight’s office, Audrey watches Dwight and the agent bicker. Nathan goes up to her about to tell her something when she tells him, “Do you think I should go in there? I was trained by the FBI.”
“You’re not really FBI Agent Audrey Parker. He could ask too many questions. Dwight can handle it.” Nathan says and points with his head to the door, “James and Daniel are waiting to brainstorm about the murder cases.”
Audrey nods ready to go into their office. James and Daniel wait by the door when Audrey’s phone rings. “It’s Sam,” she says out loud so they all know she should answer it.
Sam on the phone says, “We need your help.” with an urgent tone everyone can hear. Daniel perks up concerned.
“Go,” James says gesturing to his father saying “Nathan…” as he looks towards Agent Waller, indicating as a reason he doesn’t want to call his father, who appears the same age as him, Dad. “We can talk about the case.”
Daniel leaves with Audrey. Daniel is more eager than she is.

Audrey and Daniel arrive in Sam’s office. Sam keeps her distance from Daniel, “I’m hoping this is a trouble and not sure how it spreads but what do you see?”
As Nathan and Audrey look around confused by what they are supposed to be looking for the Jeanie goes up to Daniel ogling him, “Oh he’s cute. You want him, don’t you?”
Sam ignores The Jeanie asking Daniel and Audrey, “Anything strange?”
“I could make him want you.” the Jeanie says, “either of you.”
Daniel and Audrey shake their heads as Daniel says, “It all looks the way I saw your office last. Maybe a little messier.”
Sam sighs, knowing he’s right. She says, “Sheila and I can see a Jeanie.” The Jeanie walks over to blow on Sheila’s ear.
“She’s very annoying,” Sheila says swatting her away.
          “A Jeanie?” Audrey says shocked.
“Like from I dream of Jeanie, blond and perky.” Sam says, “But evil. Sheila’s husband wished for a million dollars now he’s being accused of stealing it.”
Sheila adds, “Is he okay? She said something bad would happen.”
“He escaped custody after a car accident.” Audrey says assuring the woman “He’s alright as far as we know.”
Daniel adds, “The FBI is accusing Dwight of causing the accident.”
“Ohh I didn’t plan that.” The Jeanie says, “Sounds exciting.”
Sheila emotionally spent sits down and says, “I wish this was all over.”
“No, Sheila,” Sam says. But they can’t stop it. A spike goes through Sheila pinning her against the wall, exactly how the teenage boy and his mother were killed.

Act V
In the station, Audrey and Daniel arrive with Sam on a mission. Dwight leaves them and goes to Audrey and Daniel. Agent Waller annoyed says, “We’re not done.” Dwight ignores him as he asks Audrey and Daniel, “You know what’s going on?”
Nathan and James come out of their office and join the group. Daniel, Audrey, Sam, and Dwight, Nathan, and James stand in a circle. The Jeanie sits on a desk behind Sam, “Oh the real action.” The Jeanie says excited.
Sam ignores her as Audrey and Daniel tell the group, Agent Waller on the sideline, “There’s been another death, we know what’s causing it. But we don’t know where it started.”
Agent Waller is shocked, “If you have a contagion here the CDC should know.” He gets out his phone to call.
Dwight puts his hand over the Agent’s cell phone and says, “It’s not that. We can handle this. This isn’t your business.”
“Go home.” Audrey says, “John didn’t do what you said he did. He was a patsy. His wife is dead.”
The Agent annoyed says, “You’ve been keeping a lot from me.”
“We didn’t know the cases were connected until just now,” Daniel argues.
Agent Waller standing his ground says, “Now you do. Read me in. Or do I need to pull rank on you?”
Sam turns to him, “You don’t want to be involved in this.”
Dwight turns to put his hand on Sam, and she steps back, “Don’t touch me.” She says as he touches her, “I’m infected.” She says knowing it’s too late.
Dwight sees the Jeanie as she pops up from the desk. She claps happily, “Another one.”
Sam warns Dwight, “Don’t say anything to her. Ignore her completely.”
“To whom.” Agent Waller asks putting his hand on Sam’s shoulder.
Agent Waller startles when he sees the Jeanie rush to him in a blur, “You are delicious, such hubris and so many desires.” She giggles playfully.
“Don’t talk to the Jeanie.” Sam orders Agent Waller.
“Jeanie?” James says questioning the logic as Agent Waller gawks unable to say anything more than “how…” he asks and then rationally explains, ““It’s a hallucination or some agent being used.”
Audrey sighs, “I’ve considered logical explanations before.”
Looking at Agent Waller lustfully the Jeanie says, “I can grant any wish. Even that blond if you want her.”
Sam looking at the agent sternly says, “Keep in mind three people are dead. And don’t wish for a million dollars it didn’t go well for John.”
James takes Sam’s hand Sam pulls away, “What are you doing?”
“I touched John. I can’t see her.” James says.
The Jeanie is annoyed, “He’s no fun.”
Daniel nods, “It’s a trouble.”
“A trouble we can deal with,” Audrey says.
“Is she like I dream of Jeanie?” James questions.
“Exactly,” Dwight says.
James looks to Daniel, “Dillion, he had I dream of Jeanie posters on his wall at the box store.”
Daniel reveals, “The box store is where Luke was both times before his mother died and he died.”
They head out to the box store.

At the front of the box store Agent Waller, Dwight, Sam, Daniel, James, Audrey, and Nathan arrive. Dwight stops the Agent, “They’re going inside you are not.”
Audrey and Nathan enter. The store looks abandoned, Dillion is nowhere to be found. They call out for him.
Outside Agent Waller argues with Dwight, “This is my case. I need to know how this kid did it.”
“You could always wish to know,” Jeanie says smugly leaning against the building.
The agent turns to her, “I wish you would stop talking.”
Sam argues, “Don’t.” Sam sighs, it’s too late.
Suddenly Sam, Agent Waller, and Dwight hear the Jeanie’s voice in their heads, “And now I’m in your heads. I can see a lot in here.” She says gleefully.
Sam turns to the agent and glares.
The Agent is annoyed, “What? What is going on?”
          “Welcome to Haven,” Dwight says.
          Sam adds, “It’s a Tuesday.”
The Jeanie turns Agent Waller gleefully, “And that’s a fun thought.”
          Suddenly the store explodes.
Duke from the docks pulling stuff into his car sees the explosion and takes off in his car towards it.
Dwight is pinned, but James and Daniel are out, covered in dust they try to get Dwight out but can’t lift the debris on top of him.
Dwight declares “You have to find Audrey and Nathan.” Urging them to leave him. They know this won’t end without Nathan healing the boy.
Dwight sees Duke as James and Daniel go into what’s left of the store.
Arriving at the scene, Duke sees Sam under the debris.
Seeing him race for her she tells him to stop.
The debris crushing her he argues, “Sam I have to-“
“You can’t touch me.” Sam warns, “I’m infected with a trouble.”
“So I won’t touch you.” He says and approaches her.
As Duke pulls off the debris, Sam sees, Dillon’s there, “Dillon.” She says in shock, “How did he get out here?” Sam says and tells Duke, “He’s the troubled one, don’t touch him.”
As Duke grabs a piece of glass Sam asks, “What are you doing?” and Duke uses the glass to break Dillon’s skin and presses his hand against the blood. His eyes turn silver.
“Now you’re infected,” Sam says forlorn.
“I’m not leaving you like this,” Duke says, and he pulls the beam crushing both Sam and Dwight with his super strength.
Agent Waller half-awake watches in shock.
Sam, hurt, slides out from the debris sitting down holding her chest in pain, “What about Audrey and Nathan?” She asks.
Dwight shakes his head saying, “We don’t know.”

Inside the shop James and Daniel are looking for Audrey and Nathan, calling out for them. They can’t find them.

Outside, Sam sitting on the ground in pain looks to Duke lovingly as she holds her side. She says, “Damn it. I made a wish.”
“A good one.” The Jeanie thinks happily.
Dwight asks, “What did you wish?
Sam moaning in pain saying, “To have Duke’s baby.” She refers to her now pregnant belly and moans in pain. She’s in labor.
Duke jokes, “We could have just done that…we missed the fun part.”
Sam grabbing Duke’s shirt says to him, ““Duke I wished that I would rather die giving birth to your child.”
Duke's eyes widen. He fears his wife’s death. He turns to Dwight, “We have to get Nathan to Dillon.”
The Jeanie on top of the ruins says, “This is so exciting.” clapping her hands.

Inside the box store, James and Daniel finally find Audrey and Nathan, unconscious hidden under boxes. Thankfully they are alive.
Dwight enters yelling, “Dillon is out here.”
Daniel carries Audrey, and with Dwight’s help James get’s Nathan to his feet. Dwight and James holding him up, they carry him out as he walks.
Nathan, injured leans down next to Dillon, touching him he sees the Jeanie who gets in his face, telepathically communicating, “What do you wish for?” He is shocked off guard.
James urges him to focus.
Nathan focuses on healing Dillon and as he does the Jeanie disappears as does Sam’s pregnant belly. Relieved she relaxes, hugging Duke. He embraces her grateful she’s alright.

At the police station, Dwight stands saying goodbye to Agent Waller.
“You seem to have things under control here without the FBI getting involved.” Agent Waller says.
“We’d appreciate your discretion.” Dwight says shaking Waller’s hand with a firm yet friendly grip and asking, “What about John?”
Agent Waller sighs, “I’ll tell them he was being used.”
“You could blame it on a boastful teen messing around.” Dwight offers, “Luke Devon was pretty good with computers, and he’s dead.”
Waller nods saying, “You do this a lot, cover up the troubles.”
Dave and Vince approach overhearing.
          Dwight nods, “It’s my job.”
Agent Waller leaves.
Dave and Vince concerned approach Dwight, “You’re sure it’s a good idea to let him go.” Vince asks Dwight.
“He knows about the troubles,” Dave adds worried.
“He’s going to keep it a secret.” Dwight says adding, “He knows if he didn’t people would think he was crazy.”
Dave and Vince nod, but they are still worried.

At the Hospital Daniel and James with little Danielle visit Nathan and Audrey, who lay side by side in hospital beds.
Audrey and Nathan are happily engaging with the giggling Danielle. Her dad looks to her worried. “I know.” She says. “This was mom, trying to get rid of us.”
“It almost worked,” Daniel says chocked up.
Nathan sighs, “Danielle would have been safe.”
Audrey, holding Nathan’s hand says, “She’s what’s important.” Audrey looks to James, “And you.” She says reaching out stroking his chin, “My sweet boy. You’d protect her.” Audrey says turning to James and Daniel, “If something happened to us.”
James sighs, “Of course.”

At Duke and Sam’s, Duke and Sam, a hospital bracelet on her wrist enter. “You can help me unpack now.”
Duke sternly says, “Sam, about your wish.”
Sam sighs a deep breath.
“You keep saying you're not ready to have a child.” Duke comments, “and I’ll wait as long as you need but I have to ask.”
Sam embraces Duke stopping him, looking into his eyes, “I ready.” she says. “I want to have a baby with you.”
Duke smiles ecstatic.
Sam smiling putting her hand in his hair says, “Let’s do that fun part you talked about.”
Duke kisses her deeply, and she returns a deep kiss back.

Agent Waller returns to his superiors and reports he has reason to believe the Haven police department is falsifying police reports. The entire police department is corrupt, and he recommends the FBI go in and take over Haven.

Five Tricks to Reading the Bible in a Year (or just every day)

I was in 8th grade when I first tried to read through the Bible. Then I tried again in 12th with one of those “Read the Bible in a year” Bibles. Neither worked. Then for lent a few years back I read a guided reading. After lent I continued experimenting on how I would read daily; follow the lectionary, read from the beginning. I settled on reading a pericope each day reading through a book that I felt God calling me to read.

Now every morning I read the Bible. Sure there are a few days where I’ve slept in or an emergency has pulled me away, but 9 times out of 10 I do it.

This last year with Calvary Presbyterian Church in South Pasadena I took on reading the whole Bible in a year. That’s reading 3-7 chapters a day 6 days a week for a year (Sabbath was an off day. I usually don’t take it when I’m on my personal plan).

Reading the Bible in a year was hard. Like a commitment in marriage, some days aren’t good. But you stick with it. Though it was hard I am glad I did it. A daily dose of Gospel, of hearing God’s promises in both the Old and New Testament gives me a heart filled with hope and faith and a better understanding of God and righteousness. It truly nourishes. And here are five tricks I found helped me stick with it;

1.     Schedule

Calvary had a schedule for us which kept me on track. You can find schedules online. Give yourself some grace when things come up. Experiment on how you want to go about it, splitting it up for meal times, morning and night, or once a day. Try to find the same time(s) each day. Then it becomes a routine. Time is often an issue for doing this. I dedicated a half an hour a day, that’s it. It’s worth it to be closer to our creator and redeemer.

2. Accountability

As an Intern at Cavalry, I had to write weekly emails about the passages so I couldn’t slack. Find some outside person, group, or activity (like emails) that hold you accountable. (I admit, when my internship was over after 9months I slacked a little and ended three days behind when I was originally a week ahead, so accountability is important.)

3. Pray (Before and After Reading)

Before you read Pray, inviting the Holy Spirit to teach you. I pasted an intro prayer on the top of my Bible. It became second nature to me;

“Dear Lord, help this scripture teach me who you are and how I shall be your servant as broken as I am.”

This opened me up to God and what the scripture had to say. The prayer is deeply theological. If you find it harsh and would like a more detailed explanation of this prayer, let me know in the comments, and I can write another article on it.

Pray after. First thank God for all that you got out of the time with him, even if it was only one little thing. Gratitude helps you focus and discern what to carry with you in your heart. It also shapes an outlook of gratitude. But you don’t have to be grateful for it all. Confusion, anger, frustration God can hold that. Reach out to him for help alongside your gratitude. Ask questions. This is a journey, and you’re not alone in it.

4. Express Yourself

I am a writer. I am also a kinesthetic learner. So, after I read, I would journal, writing and absorbing what the passage said as I wrote down a summary too (prayer followed). I limited myself to a page in a journal to respect my time. It fell within my 30 minutes. If you’re a musician, you can write a song or music. Perhaps you’re an artist who likes to draw or paint. Incorporate something into this practice that connects to who you are. Talk, write a professional memo, dance even. God wants to know you too!

5. Accept your Finite Abilities;

There were some days I was exhausted or couldn’t focus. I still read.  Sure I didn’t always feel like I got something extraordinary out of it. But I usually got something. Even on those days that I got zilch I still think it was worth it.

You may be tired, or your brain may hurt from other responsibilities, that’s okay, just read. Let God worry about what you get out of it. Besides, in one reading you won’t get everything out of these chapters. The Holy Spirit will give you a taste. Enjoy it. Enjoy the journey. The Valley’s teach as well as the hills. And when you’re done in a year you can go back and reread stuff you want to explore more. I bet you’ll be motivated to find out more from other sources; commentaries and study Bibles. And if you truly find reading the Bible in a year too overwhelming go back to a smaller reading. That’s just fine.

I am going back to reading a pericope at a time (after I pray about where to start-
You can see from the photo I started in Isaiah.). Honestly, I think I like it better. But I’m still glad I read the Bible in a Year. I recommend everyone to work towards it and do it at least once.
