INT. CHURCH SANCTUARY -
DAY
Sam preaches saying, “Reverend Driscal used to
say that there was evil in this town. And he wasn’t entirely wrong. There is
evil in this town. What he was wrong about is that people are evil. People are
capable of evil, any person, every person sins. But every person is made in the
image of God, troubled or not, disable, any race all are made in the image of
God. But we sin too. And we as a community need to come together, worshiping
the triune God and depend on him for our strength and encouragement, and love
each other and with the power of Christ’s sacrifice, on the cross, by abiding
in him as this passage tells us we can be free from sin and free from death… So
think about that as you head to Derby for the boat show. Some light
reflecting.”
The congregation laughs.
EXT. CHURCH - DAY
As people leave the sanctuary Sam wishes them a
good time at the boat show.
Duke comes up next to her and asks if she’s ready
for their romantic cruise.
Smiling in love she says, “absolutely”. More
people come up to her and she wishes them a good trip.
Outside the church looking on at Sam wishing
people a good trip Rev. Driscal stands. He stares at the busy church. Seeing
Sam he sneers.
Audrey and Nathan walk out, hand in hand with
wedding rings on and greet Sam, very comfortable with her.
Rev. Driscal seeing this sneers louder.
A young tattooed man recognizes him and is in
awe of him saying, “Reverend Driscal.”
Driscal turns to him, “Fredrick Lions, one of
my faithful.”
Fredrick is ecstatic, “I knew you’d come back.
Death couldn’t even keep you away.”
He turns to the young man and nods, “I’m glad
to see someone still knows what’s good for them. We need to make sure the town
knows. We need to get rid of certain elements in this town.”
He looks to and refers to Audrey and Nathan.

Driscal grumpy growls, “This is all you could
get?”
Fredrick says, “The New preacher has talked
many out of violence saying it isn’t the work of God.”
Driscal growls, “Sam Lewis.”
Fredrick surprised says, “you know her?”
Driscal turns to the crowd, “Yes, she had the
audacity to write me letters about how I was stirring up evil in this town. We
know who’s evil.” With a quick motion he stabs a knife into a picture of Audrey
Parker.” He looks to the people, “We have to fix this town.”

“We’ll enjoy that later.” She says.
“I hope so, I did build it for this.”
Sam takes a sip of wine, a smug look
on her face as she eyes Dukes.
LATER
The fish in front of them eaten, they sit across
the table from each other a chocolate brownie between them. Playfully, with
their forks they fight over a piece of chocolate brownie. She gets the last

his way of getting more.

and jeans.
Duke utters the word “pirates” in response to
Sam just as Duke grabs for a gun.
But before he can get it out an older bearded
man holds a shotgun on him. “Duke Crocker you’ll be dead before you lift a
finger.”
The bearded man says, “Now let’s talk about

older bearded man holds a shotgun on Duke. He holds the gun at Duke’s head.
Duke turns to face him, “Vash, you’re
smelling as pungent as ever.”
Vash laughs.
Sam, gripped by a large man, gripes,
“Duke, do you really think that’s the best idea now?”
Vash chuckles, “Duke and I go way back. He
stole from me right under my nose.”
“Something you stole first. I was returning
it.” Duke says.
“I always liked you Duke for your guts. To
steel from a pirate is bad form, you never know when you’ll run into him
again.”
“You going to kill me?” Duke asks with a
straight face.
“Now what profit would that get me?” He pulls
down the gun aiming it at his gut “No” he places the gun against Duke’s gut. “I
want your cargo, where is it?”
“I don’t have any cargo. I’m not
smuggling anymore.” Duke says.
The bearded man says, “Pete.” As if
telling him to perform a task.
The large man holding Sam smacks her
across the face hard, she falls to the ground, her lip begins to bleed. She
backs away from him but he approaches her again and Sam’s afraid.
“Stop. Stop.” Duke pleads.
“Pete hold it.” The bearded man says.
Pete stops.
Vash leans into Duke, “He really likes hurting
women.”
Duke insists, “I’m telling you the truth.”
The bearded man shakes his head, “That’s
not what I heard. I heard you had valuable cargo this run.”
Duke argues, “Whatever you heard is
wrong. I’m out of the game. Look around take whatever you want. Just don’t hurt
her.”
Vash sighs and leans back, the gun
still in Duke’s ribs, “Since you care about her so much I think we’ll keep her
until you start talking.”
Duke angrily threatens, “Don’t you
dare touch her.”
Vash is surprised, “it would be
ashamed if she had to see you die.” Vash says pressing the gun into his gut.
“Duke, it’s alright.” Sam says sitting
on the deck her knees bent feet against the deck, hands behind her.
“Pete.” Vash, the bearded man says his
eyes on Duke.
Sam on the ground, her hands behind her rear as
both legs are bents her feet flat against the deck watches as the large man
approaches. As he comes within rang she kicks him hard in the shin, his bone

from Vash’s grasp and Duke punches Vash who teeters backwards.
Duke pulls his gun on Vash, “Get off
my boat.” He says.

Audrey turns to Nathan, “He’s mad at us for
keeping things from him and frankly he has every right. But I can see it’s
festering the distrust he now carries for us.”
“He’s an adult, he’ll handle it.” Nathan says
looking back to his book.
“We caused this Nathan by not being honest with
him.” Audrey leans in towards him, “I thought you were the one who wanted to be
honest with him, not keep secrets.”
“I understand now, how secrets can be
necessary. Sometimes you don’t want to know the truth. It prevents you from
living life.” Nathan says.
“What about when it comes out?”
“Then you deal, but you got all that time.”
Nathan says.
She sighs, gets up and turns towards the door.
”You’re just going to walk out.” Nathan asks,
annoyed like she’s frustrated with him.
“I’m going to pee, is it okay if I pee?”
Nathan sighs, “Yeah.”
“Love you.” She says leaving the room, “And
you’re right we’ll deal with it.”

Duke looks to her lip,
“You alright?”
“It will heal.” She says.
He rubs her arms apologizes profusely for the

remember living at Dr. Kar’s with the top drawer that stuck.”
Shirtless Nathan insists, “They might know what
we know but they’re not us.”
The younger Audrey questions, “How do we know
we haven’t traveled forward in time, some kind of time travel trouble? Look
around does any of this look familiar?”
“My father would never let me decorate his
house like this.” He insists.
“He’s dead.” Older Nathan says.
“No.” Nathan can’t accept that, “He won’t die
until I man up.”
Younger Audrey is sensitive to younger Nathan,

His look of says it all. She’s right, he’s

Sam shakes her head annoyed he’s not addressing
what she just said, “I know that but you lied to me, all those trips you took
for the Gull.”
Duke reaches out for her, “Sam-“
“No. There’s nothing you can say Duke to make
this okay. I thought you’d changed.”
“That’s all you ever wanted from me to change.
Well I’m a smuggler and darn good at it.”
“Yeah, that’s apparent.” She mocks as they are
being held by pirates.
She
sits in a corner away from him, “Do you even care what danger you put us in?”
“They’ll get bored and leave. I’ll

They’re alright and have avoided the rocks, apart from some scrapes.

Sam gets off.
Duke runs after her, “Sam.”
“Duke,

INT. POLICE STATION -
DAY
Audrey, Nathan, and James are held
hostage by men tooting Guns. They look to Garland and Rev. Driscal who talk in
the chief’s office.
“What do you think they’re talking
about?” Audrey asks.
“I don’t know.”
“We’ve been here for hours.” Audrey
says.
James seeing a long haired Dwight walk
in from the side entrance, sneaking behind the guys turns to Audrey and Nathan.
“Why are you whispering? Keeping more secrets from me?” He gripes annoyed.
“James?” Audrey questions surprised.
“All you ever do is lie to me, keep
things from me.” James yells.
“We did that to protect you.” Nathan
says.
Audrey seeing Dwight, sneak past as
the guys are distracted with James yelling at Nathan says, “You did the same
thing to James your father did to you? How can you be such a hypocrite and
bring me along with you.”
Nathan confused says, “It was your
idea. I didn’t want to do it.”
Audrey stares at Nathan and grunts her
eyes darting towards the man behind him. Suddenly Nathan turns and hits the man
behind him. Audrey takes the man to the right, James the man to the left and
Dwight has the two men by the front door.
Audrey takes back her gun and points
it at the Reverend, “It’s over Reverend.”
Garland turns and holds his gun on
Audrey.
Nathan looks betrayed, “Dad.”
Reverend looks to Audrey, “He
understand now, that you need to die.”
Garland, seeing the men on the ground and
Dwight and James guarding them turns his gun to the Reverend, “No, I was simply
buying time for Dwight to come by.”
James turns to Dwight, “I can clean this all up
Chief.” He says.
Garland smiles overhearing, “Yes, he’s
the cleaner.”
Dwight questions, “Chief?”
Audrey turns to him, “Long story.”
They all realize that he’s the younger Dwight.

INT. POLICE STATION – MAIN
ROOM - EARLY EVENING
As a police officer takes the cuffed Driscal to
the cell Sam enters with Duke behind her.
Rev. Driscal growls, “Sam Lewis, you Godless
woman.”
Audrey and Nathan look up from talking to the
cops.
Sam presses Rev Driscal’s face into the table,
“Don’t you mess with me Rev. Driscal, not after the day I’ve had.”
Audrey and Nathan look shocked.
Duke’s shocked.
Sam presses his head into the desk, yells at
Driscal, “You poisoned this town with hate. That’s not what following Christ’s
about.”
Duke coxes Sam, “Sam, let him go.”
Sam lets him go.
Driscal challenges her, “People need to hate
evil. The cursed are evil.”
Sam upset says, “That didn’t stop you from trying
to use Duke’s trouble-.”
Driscal gets in her face and says, “The cursed
need to be wiped from this earth.”
James pulls him away and challenges Driscal, “Get
off your high horse. The only reason the Driscals aren’t cursed is because you’re
related to a witch who did it.”
Driscal astonished says, “No, that’s not true.”
Audrey smiling with Nathan and the chief
standing next to her smiling too says, “Yeah, it is.”
“Abigail Driscal, “Nathan says pulling a
picture off the board.
Sam, smiling turns to him, “And its Reverend
Lewis to you.”
The cop takes the upset Driscal to the cell.
Sam smiling turns to Audrey and Nathan, “That
felt good.”
Audrey, referring to Sam’s lip, asks, “What
happened?”
Sam motions to Duke, “Ask my wonderful
husband.” She says ironically.
Garland whispers to Nathan in shock, “Husband?
Duke married a Reverend.”
Nathan simply nods looking to Duke he asks,
“Duke, what happened?”
Duke says, “Pirates, but they’re gone. I was-”
Sam interrupts, “Duke’s past caught up with
him.” Sam says, “I just want to sleep and shower can we come by to make a
report tomorrow?”
Audrey nods, “Yeah, we still have this trouble
to figure out.”
Sam heads for the entrance and Duke follows.
INT. POLICE STATION -
ENTRANCE FOYER – EARLY EVENING
As Sam and Duke are leaving Duke
catching up to Sam says, “Thank you.”
Sam frustrated says, “I don’t want to
talk right now.”
INT. POLICE STATION –
MAIN ROOM - EARLY EVENING
Audrey turns to James, Nathan, and Garland, “So
what was…is this?”
They all look oblivious.
James leaning against a desk turns to Nathan,
“I think I understand now what you were up against?”
Suddenly younger Dwight, some cops, and out in
the hallway Driscal disappears.
Audrey questions, “Could it be. Could the
therapist?”
Nathan looks confused.
Audrey says, “In the therapists office you’d
said you wanted him to understand what we were up against then, now he does and
the trouble goes away. Dr. Alma did this.”
Garland asks, “What about me?”
Audrey continues, “Well…Nathan wanted James to
get to know his father.”
“Then I go…” Garland says motioning with his
head to the great beyond. He then nods, “Should we head to the Gull have a
drink?”
Nathan and James nod identically like only a
father and son could do. They all walk out together, “How is it that Nathan is
your father?”
James explains, “There was a time travel
incident where he met Sarah in 1955.”
“Oh,” Garland says, “Time Travel.” Garland
looks to Nathan, “Nathan? You know better than that.”
Nathan smiles.
“I’m glad he doesn’t.” Audrey says.
EXT. GULL - DUSK
Garland, Nathan, James, and Audrey sit
at the Gull laughing.
CAPE ROUGE - DUSK
Duke looks at the damage on the boat as Sam
walks up from below deck, drying her hair with a towel.
Duke looks to her, “You okay?”
Sam sighs, “Better with a shower.”
“Ready to talk?” Duke asks.
Sam sighs and nods.
“I’m so sorry.” He says.
Annoyed she asks, “Are you?”
“Of course I am.” He puts his hand against her
cheek, “I didn’t want this to happen to you.”
Sam backs away from him, “You know what part
you played?” Duke sighs saddened about to cry but he holds back the tears too
manly to cry.
“Yes. It’s who I am Sam. I’m a smuggler, I
tried to stop but I can’t. It’s who I am I—.”
“But you lied about it.” Sam says betrayal on
her face.
Duke agitated responds, “What would you have
done if I’d told you the truth. You wouldn’t have married me.”
Sam sighs, “You don’t know that’s true. I don’t
know that’s true. You didn’t give me the chance.” She backs away from Duke, “I’m
done with this lying.”
Duke sighs heavy, “I’ll take care of
everything.” He looks at her lovingly, “I’m glad I met you and got this time.”
She stares at him confused and tired.
Tears in his eyes he says, “You can stay on the
boat as long as you need.”
As he looks away not wanting her to see a tear
fall from his cheek she looks up at him shocked.
“Duke, I’m not leaving you.”
Duke looks to her surprised saying, “You’re
not?”
Sam sits on the bed and takes his cheeks in her
hands, “No, dummy. For better or worse. This is just a bit of the worse.”
Duke hugs her lovingly kissing her neck.
She speaks to him as he embraces her, “I knew
you when I married you Duke. I knew I’d be dragged into your choices as you are
mine.”
Duke smiles hugging her lovingly.
“This choice is still going to cost you.” Sam
says.
Duke pulls away from her, tense. He stands
attentive, “Okay, what do I need to do?”
Sam smiles at his willingness putting her hand
to his cheek, “It’s not like that.” She says. “If you choose to smuggle I’ll
stay but I’m not bringing another life into this.”
Duke confused says, “I don’t understand.”
Sam clarifies, “No kids Duke. I can go either
way so I think this is the responsible thing to do. I won’t put a child in danger
like we were.”
Duke deflates but nods, “Yeah, okay.”
Sam nods, “Good.” Sam hugs him her cheek
against his chest. He holds her and looks off into the distance saddened.
