After Danielle’s baptism Mavis makes a plan to steel
the baby just as Nathan learns he has a little brother.
Previously on Haven – People
of Haven have mysterious troubles, abilities that cause havoc, suffering, even
death. Mavis, a witch and her coven troubled people centuries ago. But one
girl, Mavis’ daughter helped protect the troubled over generations, staying
young as she kept the troubles at bay when she entered the mysterious barn for
27 years at a time, only coming out to recharge with love and always helping
the troubled. Coming to Haven as someone new each time-a kind of supernatural
witnesses protection program she carries the memories of the person she
pretended and in fact believes she is and is therefore protected from her
mother who was trapped in a prison of her own making. In this century her
daughter appeared as Audrey Parker, an FBI Agent. As Audrey she met a young Haven
police detective named Nathan. Nathan’s trouble was that he was unable to feel.
But somehow he could feel Audrey—she’s immune to the troubles. They slowly fell
in love. Learning she could end the troubles by killing someone she loved she
killed Nathan. But instead of dying permanently Nathan came back to life but
with the ability to heal the troubles. Nathan and Audrey married and Audrey has
just recently given birth to Danielle, their daughter, who the town realizes
will be able to cure the troubles as well as be immune to them. But they must keep
her away from Mavis, who has managed to get free of her prison and form a new
coven in Haven, because Mavis will use her to hold the town hostage under the
terror of the troubles. They must do this while the town, the Reverend, her
smuggling husband, and Audrey’s father deal with the ever present troubles of
the people of Haven.
“The Prodigal Brother”
Teaser
On a gorgeous morning in Haven
outside the dock restaurant the Gull, Duke, the owner, his hair in a small
ponytail as it normally is, says goodbye to Abe, his brother. Abe climbing into
his car loaded down with everything he owns says, “thank Nathan for healing
me.”
Leaning against the car, Duke
sighs, “If I have to.” He’s never really liked Nathan finding him boring and a
pain in his backside…and the feeling is mutual. But their mutual dislike for
each other isn’t what it seems. They’re actually very close, like brothers.
Duke
arriving back at the Cape Rouge, Duke’s boat at the dock, heads inside to see
his wife Sam getting ready in a nice summer dress, “Don’t forget about the Baptism.”
She tells Duke. He nods and heads into the bedroom.
At Audrey and Nathan’s place,
Audrey and Nathan carefully dress little baby Danielle in a white dress. Both
look to her lovingly especially Nathan who makes baby noises. Audrey holds her three
months old daughter with care.
From hill above the town, Mavis,
with a scowl on her face watches the town seeing the church busting with people
gathering for the baptism. She spots Nathan and Audrey among them, Audrey
holding baby Danielle.
Also standing above the town,
Kat and Zara, fellow witches, are behind Mavis, “We cannot let her be raised by
them, or the troubles will be gone forever.” Mavis announces.
“Are you
sure she can heal the troubles?” Zara asks, finding it hard to believe.
“Daniel’s
sure so it must be true.” Mavis says, watching Daniel, her husband below, hugs their
daughter Audrey.
“If she was
raise by us, we’d have the advantage.” Kat says sinisterly.
Without looking back to Kat Mavis
says, “And so it will be.”
James heads towards Nathan and
Audrey, who holds baby Danielle but he’s stopped by Vince and Dave, “How do you
feel about being a big brother.”
James looks to them shocked,
“What?”
The brothers, Vince and Dave,
who always talk over each other and fight about the accuracy of the other’s
information or how it’s expressed talk about the past. Audrey is James' mother, even though she had the personality
of Sarah back when he was born he has the same genetics since Nathan is also
his father (due to a time travel incident).
Feeling lost in the
conversation James says nothing letting it all sink in. He looks down at the
gift he brought not so happy with it now. As he looks down Audrey approaches
him, “I’m remember your baptism.” She tells James. Audrey has recently unlocked
all the memories of her previous lives, allowing her to live a complete life,
as herself instead of the identities given to her.
James looks to her surprised
asking, “Really?”
“It was here in this church,
right before I took you to Colorado.” Audrey says recalling having to give him
up when the barn came to pick her up again. Turning to James she asks him to
sit up with them, since he’s family. Happily James agrees.
Inside the church Daniel
performs the Baptism as Sam and Dwight take on the vows of godparents. Audrey
and Nathan look on lovingly.
Meanwhile back in Haven, at
the police station Stan is the only cop on duty as a man comes in looking
haggard and tired. (Played by Fredrick Weller know for “In Plain Sight”). He
walks with a stern look on his face, his entire presence carries a dark cloud
in the air. Picking up a paperclip off the desk and playing with it he asks for
Detective Warnous.
Casually Stan answers that
he’s at the church this morning, having his baby girl baptized.
The stern man sighs, “He’s
having more luck than me.” He says jamming the paperclip into is hand, his hand
bleeds but he does not react.
Stan, unaware asks what his
business with detective Warnous is saying, “Maybe I can help you.”
“It’s a family matter.” The
man says sternly.
Stan cheerfully believing this
man is family and invited to the baptism says, “Oh you’re family. They’re
having the reception at the house. I’ll give you the address.”
At Nathan and Audrey’s place in
the backyard they are having a reception for the baptism. Daniel, Audrey’s
father is there helping with the drinks. James is there with Lyla, his tattoo
reception girlfriend, tattoos down her arms. Dwight’s there with Susie, who
could easily be that kind librarian or the sweet elementary teacher everyone
adored. She carries herself with such warmth and grace.
Audrey walks around greeting
guests as Sam holds baby Danielle. Duke comes up to her. Susie to Sam and Duke says, “Perhaps I should hold her, you wouldn’t want to get any ideas.”
Duke asks Sam in a straight
forwards way, “Are you getting any ideas?”
“I’ve got a mind to get a full
night of sleep tonight because Nathan and Audrey won’t.”
Duke looks disappointed.
“You want to hold her?” Sam
asks Susie, ready to hand her over to Susie.
“Yes.” Susie says and gladly
takes her.
Audrey looks on vigilantly
staying close.
That’s when the man from the
station walks in, the black cloud still hanging in the air around him,
metaphorically. He asks Vince who’s comparing the food with his brother Dave
bickering about it whether it’s good and where it came from, where he can find
Nathan Warnous.
Vince and Dave look around and
they all spot him coming out of the house with a bag of ice.
Daniel takes the ice from
Nathan telling him to enjoy his family. The mysterious man then approaches
saying, “I’m sorry to intrude in on a family event. I’m Torstein, your
brother.” Nathan stares.
Audrey watches Nathan talking
to the mysterious man and with concern in her eyes tells Susie and Dwight, who
looks to baby Danielle lovingly that she’ll be right back.
Torstein explains, “Max Hanson
was my father.” Nathan sighs staring—his father was a psychopathic killer,
Nathan took the name Warnous from his stepfather. He just stands there unsure
what to say. But as Audrey approaches Nathan presses her hand away making sure
she doesn’t touch Torstein…for if he can’t feel like his father and Nathan
himself couldn’t and Torstein feels her there’s no telling what might happen.
Nathan
stumbles with his words as he stands next to Audrey his newly discovered
brother Torstein in front of him, “This is Parker…Audrey Parker my wife.” He
finally gets out. As Nathan holds her hands strangely she gives him a strange
look and pulls them from him. He takes her hands again saying, “This is
Torstein Hanson, my brother.”
Audrey stops
fighting holding her hand back.
Act
I
Torstein and
Nathan sit inside talking as Audrey watches through the glass.
Dave and
Vince come over to Audrey, “Why aren’t you in there with Nathan?” Dave asks
suspect.
“Nathan
thought it was best if I stay out here.”
“Because if
you touch him, he’ll know you’re different?” Vince says with an air of feeling
he’s right about the whole matter.
“How do you
know about it?” Audrey asks.
“Oh, we can
read lips.” Dave says.
Watching
Nathan through the window she asks, “What are they saying?”
Dave and Vince
watching through the glass provide Audrey a little information, “Something
about Carnival…mother…treated horribly.” Dave scoff, “Of course she was Max
Hanson was a bully.”
Vince
continues reading lips, “Tomorrow then…”
They’re
meeting tomorrow.
The next day
at the station Audrey and Nathan go in, Audrey has baby Danielle strapped to
her. “We really need to find someone to leave her with.” Audrey tells Nathan.
He’s handed the background check he asked for on Torstein. Nathan tells the
curious Audrey that it reveals what he thought, “Torstein was telling the
truth.”
Audrey asks, “Does he have
your father’s trouble?”
The cop who handed Nathan the
report says, “Oh there’s a lot of medical data on him apparently he’s been
undergoing some medical testing for the past few years, his wife left him, he
lost his job, everything.”
“You should
talk to him.” Audrey suggests.
“But how do
we tell him and what?” Nathan says aloud.
Just then
Susie walks in with a paper bag lunch. And the phone rings, “Dwight answers. He
burst from his office, “We have an emergency at the Gull.” Dwight says and
directs Audrey and Nathan to head there.
With Audrey
unable to go because of baby Danielle, Nathan volunteers to go without Audrey.
Susie jumps
at the chance saying, “I’ll watch her.”
Audrey
agrees quickly taking her out of the harness and taking it off. She hands her
the baby bag.
Dwight looks to Susie, who now holds
the baby, “What are you doing here?”
“You forgot
your lunch.” Susie says and hands him the bag.
The cops eye
him and he tells them, “Get back to work.” Not bothered,
Susie smiles
and takes baby Danielle outside.
At the Gull
Audrey and Nathan show up to find it was Daniel’s apartment above the Gull
where the disturbance took place. Daniel, Audrey’s father is gone, and there’s
blood. Audrey is distressed, more than she’s ever been.
“He’s my
father.” She tells Nathan, “He risked his life for me more times than I can
count.” She thinks back to running through the forest, he scoops her into his
arms.
At the Gull the cops reveals
they don’t know who took him, there were no witnesses, strangely because it was
the middle of the day. The bar heard it downstairs.
Audrey is clear, “It must have been
Mavis.” She’s annoyed and runs down the stairs upset.
Nathan
follows her worried, “Audrey, Audrey, what are you going to do?”
Duke,
standing by the side of the door says, “if we didn’t see anything they’ve got
to be underground. You could start there.”
Nathan
glares at Duke, annoyed he’s enabling Audrey.
Daniel wakes
up in a cave, strung up he’s held by Mavis. She kisses him but he refuses to
kiss her back. Pacing around him she asks, “Do you remember our fighting as a
married couple.”
“Of course I
do.” He says and thinks back to some bitter fights where she seems to hold
everything against him.
“You held
everything against me.”
“Yes…you
were my husband you were supposed to love and protect me.” Behind him Mavis
smiles viciously.
Daniel shakes his head,
“that’s not what you wanted. You abhor love, can’t be around it.”
“No, what I like is control
and love can’t be controlled. You’re going to do something for me.”
“I’m not doing anything for
you.” Daniel says.
“Oh, yes you are. Why do you think
that I picked you to be the father of my child?”
“To hurt me. I was helping the
troubled. You wanted to get me where it hurt the most. You played on my
weakness for women you turned it against me.”
“Yes, I gave you such grief
and it was all just to see you squirm.” she tells him blatantly, “And boy did
you squirm always so good and Nobel, doing the right thing. I certainly broke
you down.”
“You won’t
see me squirm now.”
“You
squirmed a bit with that kiss.”
“Perhaps
next time I won’t.”
“You are
going to help me procure something I want.”
“I won’t do
anything for you.” Daniel insists.
“Oh but you
will or I will hurt baby Danielle.” Mavis says with a cackle in her voice.
Act
II
Audrey and Nathan
back at the station look at maps of Haven’s cave network. Dwight explains there
used to be gem mining in Haven implying there’s a lot of caves.
Nathan knows
it could be tricky but suggests they narrow things down to areas near the Gull,
where Daniel was taken.
Hesitant
Dwight suggests it’s possible that their caves aren’t even on this map, Haven
does have some natural cave structures.
Nathan gives
a look to Dwight telling him, that’s not something to bring up right now.
Audrey is tense staring at the map. She looks up from it, “Oh this is useless.”
She says and begins to pace across the room.
“It doesn’t
make sense, why would they take him?” Dwight questions.
Audrey looks
over to him as if curious urging him with a look to tell her what he means.
It’s as if underneath she knows he’s right.
Dwight
explains, “They’ve had plenty of opportunity to take him, why now. Why would
they take him now, they didn’t want to kill him but take him. There’s something
more going on.”
Audrey steps
back over to Dwight and Nathan, “If we could figure it out then we could stop
them.” Audrey says eagerly wanting to go after Daniel, not taking the hint that
they need to slow down the search to figure things out.
Nathan
sighs, “But what are they doing?”
James rushes
into the station huffing out of breath.
Audrey
annoyed asks, “Where were you?”
James looks
up confused, as he continues to huff. He’s clearly unaware of the situation.
“Daniel is
missing.” Dwight relays to him.
“That
explains why he didn’t meet me. We have a big problem, a trouble. I need you.”
James declares.
Over at the
new resort people are screaming running away as James, Nathan, Dwight, and
Audrey walk up coming from the truck. An ambulance waits nearby and tells
James, “We can’t do anything until…”
James jumps
into the conversation, holding up his hand says, “Yeah, yeah, we’re working on
it.”
The hotel
manager is nervously shaking, “I don’t know what to do.” The manager says and
drops his walkie. Fumbling for it he leans down to pick it up from the ground,
“I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Dwight leans
down and helps the man telling him, “We’ll take care of it.” a sense of calm in
his voice that should under normal circumstances calm the man.
“I’ve never seen
anything like it.” The man says shaken up beyond comforting.
Audrey,
Nathan, James, and Dwight walk inside the hotel slowly and hesitantly. There
at the front desk is the concierge, he’s
stuck in the wall. “Help me.” He begs pale and week.
“I wasn’t
sure whether I should get him out.” James says.
Audrey looks
at the front desk, the man is clearly stuck in it she orders James to go get
the ambulance people, clearly disappointed in them for waiting outside.
While Audrey
is looking at the man stuck in the wall people come around curiously Dwight
orders Nathan to escort them out. Nathan goes without being told.
Audrey
seeing the man’s legs on the other side of the half wall at the desk sees them
move and asks the man to hold her hand and squeeze as hard as he can. He does
as she instructs and she tells him, “good. You’re sealed in pretty tight, you
should be alright for now.” Audrey says.
Panicking
the man says, “How do you know that, I’m stuck in a wall.”
“I was a
nurse once.” Audrey says. She turns to face him holding his hand, “what were
you thinking right before this happened? What was happening?”
“I was being
yelled at by Mr. Dicky.” He says in a way that confirms he doesn’t like the man
much. “He kept telling me to go there and do this without letting me finish one
task so I was rushing as quick as I could.”
“How did you
feel at the time?”
“I don’t
know how that matters?” The man trapped in the wall asks.
Caressing
his hand she assures him, “Trust me it does.”
Dwight watches.
“I felt
invisible and just wanted to get away.” He says panting thinking back. Just then
his body turns opaque and Audrey tugs on him as if prepared. He falls out of
the wall and on her. With Dwight’s help rolling him over Audrey checks him out
just as Nathan and James comes in with the ambulance attendants.
Nathan moves
to heal him about ready to put his hands on the man’s cheeks when Audrey
interrupts saying, “He might need it to repair the damage.”
“What
happened?” The man says holding his stomach in pain as he’s lifted up onto the
gurney and the ambulance attendants head out to the ambulance.
Accompanying
him Audrey tells him, holding his hand, “You’re troubled. You can walk through
walls. But you have to control it. Just remember how you were feeling and
you’ll find yourself able to use the ability again.” Audrey looks to James,
“Can you go with him to the hospital.”
James nods,
“Yeah.” And heads into the back of the ambulance with him.
Audrey looks
to Nathan, “Now we need to find Daniel, figure out what’s going on.”
“How?”
Nathan asks.
“Back at his
place, he must have been onto something they didn’t want us to know about or
something…” Just then her phone rings.
Audrey picks
it up and gets flustered “Oh, yeah, right we’ll be right back to the station to
pick her up. I’m so sorry.”
It’s Susie
on the other end at the station crying in the background, “No, it’s fine we’ve
been having fun but I went through all pumped milk and I think she’s hungry.”
Back at the
station Audrey goes over to Susie and takes Danielle from her who is crying,
“Oh baby.” Audrey says feeling terrible as she picks her up. She turns to
Nathan, “I need to feed her.”
Nathan nods,
“should I head over?”
Audrey turns
back, “The car seat is in the truck.”
Nathan nods.
Dwight
offers, “We’ll head over in my truck. Meet you.”
Audrey nods
and heads into the office.
“I’ve got to
head over to Dairy today.” Susie announces as she gets up as if she’s
explaining why she can’t watch Danielle anymore.
“Thank you.”
Nathan says.
“It was
fun.” Susie says and leaves gracefully her purse on her shoulder.
In Dwight’s
truck Dwight tells Nathan, “I’m worried Audrey is too close to this case.”
Before he
can even get the whole thing out Nathan shaking his head says, “Don’t take
Audrey off this case. You know she’d just investigate anyway.”
“Yeah…” Dwight
sighs accepting that fact reluctantly, “but if she stays on you need to real
her in.” Dwight’s insistent.
“She’ll be fine.” Nathan says.
“She’ll take
risks.” Dwight wants it addressed.
“She always
takes risks.” Nathan casually says stating it as a fact.
“But more so
when it’s family.” Dwight says, “She needs to stay cool. I need you to do that
for her or I’m taking her off. I’d rather her be mad at me than face the
witches without a clear head.”
Nathan
sighs, “Yeah. Alright.”
In the office Audrey breast feeds
Danielle, buckles Danielle in her seat and heads over with the truck.
Audrey and Nathan look at
Daniel’s place, Danielle sleeping in her car seat placed inside the apartment.
Sam at the church sits in her
office reading some material. She goes over to her assistant and asks about the
Sunday bulletin when a brick flies through the window and hits her awkwardly
against her body. A note is attached to the brick and Sam lays on the ground
unconscious.
ACT
III
Duke rushes to Sam in
the hospital. Entering her room he sees her. She sits up in bed as he goes to
her, “I’m fine.” She says taking his hand affectionately, “I’m just bruised.”
“You’re sure
you didn’t see who threw the brick?” Nathan asks Sam.
Sam shakes
her head, “No,”
Audrey, with baby Danielle
asleep strapped in her seat, leans against the counter in the room and says,
“She didn’t need to. The handwriting is my mother’s. The note attached is from
her.” Audrey leaves upset and Nathan follows.
Duke nuzzles Sam putting his forehead
against hers in grieved.
“I’m alright.” She assures him
and gives him a peck on the lips.
Out in the hall Nathan walks
after Audrey, “If it’s from her we can’t abide by it.” Nathan says.
“To hell we
can’t. If all my mother wants is to see me then I’ll see her. She’s never been
known to lie, that’s not her style.”
“But there’s
something else going on, we just don’t know what it is.” Nathan pleads with
Audrey to be cautious.
“And
searching Daniel’s place left us empty. This is our only shot.”
Torstein
comes up the hall, “Can I help?” He asks. Seeing the confusion on Nathan’s and
Audrey’s face as to how and why he is there that he’s caught them off guard he
reveals, “The station told me you were here. One thing after another in this
town, ha? I could help. I was a US Marshall if someone is missing…”
Audrey shakes her head, “No,
we’ve got it.”
“Audrey you’re acting rash.”
Nathan says upset, trying to be so politically correct the word rash comes out
and sounds awkward on his lips.
“Rash?” Audrey says upset,
“This is FBI procedure. You remember I was an FBI agent. I can handle myself in
this. You know that.” She storms off upset and the baby wakes beginning to cry.
She heads towards the bathroom screaming at Nathan, “I’m going to change her.”
In a tone that indicates it would be a bad idea to follow her.
Nathan lets out a heavy sigh
as he watches the door that Audrey went through.
Torstein stands there, tension
in the air he continues saying, “I mean it when I said I could help.”
Nathan shakes his head,
“Thanks, I think we’re okay. I’ll keep that in mind though.”
Torstein says assured, “You
probably already saw my file…”
“Yeah.” Nathan nods, “I did. I
want to talk to you…it’s just now’s not a really great time.”
“Yeah…I see that…” there’s an
awkward pause between them as Torstein gets the courage, “I know I can’t help
with official police work but…” Just then Audrey comes out of the bathroom and
Nathan runs after her. Torstein runs after him, “I could watch her, baby
Danielle. She is my niece.” He says looking to her affectionately.
Audrey looks to him, “I saw
your file. You were an exemplary Marshall. They didn’t’ make enough
accommodations for your condition.”
Torstein breaths deeply
relieved to hear someone say that.
Audrey asks him to, “Meet us
at the house in say an hour.”
“Okay.” Torstein nods grateful
and heads out. As he heads out he looks back to Audrey and Nathan overhearing
Nathan, irritated with Audrey, says, “You can’t actually be doing this.”
Audrey looks around as people are staring and
signals to Nathan gesturing with her head to follow him outside. Torstein
leaves as they do.
Outside in the car Nathan
tells her, “She’s crazy Audrey you know that.”
“Yes, I know how to protect
myself.”
“Do you? Last time you saw her
you froze.”
“Last time we saw her I was
able to get us out. I’m stronger now. I have Danielle to think about.”
“I am thinking about Danielle,
what if something happens to you.”
“Don’t ask me to choose
between my father and my daughter. I shouldn’t have to choose.” Audrey says
desperately. “She just wants to talk, she’s always wanted to get her claws in
me but she won’t not ever and I know that because I have you and this…” she
holds up the ring he gave her. “She can’t touch me if I have this.”
Nathan sighs giving into her.
“The meets tonight at the old
glass factory. I’ll get Danielle settled with Torstein, unless you want to
watch her.”
“No, I mean…you need me there
with you.”
Nathan sighs heavily as he
starts the truck to head home.
That night Audrey, at the
house explains to Torstein the bottle situation and diapers. He confidently
says he can handle it. Audrey kisses Danielle on the head and Nathan does as
well taking a little longer than Audrey does, not wanting to leave.
At the glass factory Audrey
walks in alone, leaving Nathan at the entrance looking out. Kat stands with
Daniel, “Audrey” Daniel says, “You shouldn’t have come.”
“Dad? I wasn’t going to just
leave you.” She turns to Kat, “Nathan is right outside.”
“That’s fair, but make sure he
stays there or daddy dearest gets it.” Kat chuckles sinisterly as he pushes a
knife against Daniel’s throat.
Daniel bravely looks Kat in
the eyes and says, “You need help Kat.”
Pulling the knife from his
throat Kat turns to Audrey, “He reminds me of my own father, so wonderful and
loving towards Sam but pressing me always to do this and do that. Get help Kat,
maybe your sister can help you.”
“Where’s my mother?” Audrey
demands to know.
“She’s coming.” Kat says,
“Right now you have to listen to me!” She yells.
“Alright, we’re listening.”
Audrey says calmly.
“Sam was always the golden
child, she could never do any wrong, even when she did. You’re always supposed
to love a child, even when they do bad things, when they don’t meet your
standards. You have to love them.” He looks to Daniel, “Would you have loved
her if she’d joined Mavis, if from the beginning she’d been a witch.”
Audrey sighs heavily as Kat
continues, “Is that preventing--”
Daniel
suddenly utters, “Yes” and Kat turns to him surprised, “Yes.” Daniel repeats. “I
still would have loved her. Always, no matter what she does.” He turns to Audrey
mournful, giving her permission to leave him but knowing how hard it will be
for her.
Audrey looks
to her father touched, tears start to stream down her face. She knows he’s
giving her permission to leave him if need be, to let him die if need be…if she
needs to do it to protect herself.
On the other side of the
building Mavis waits as a man comes up in a hood, looking to what he’s holding
she says, “Ah…thank you.” He’s holding baby Danielle, which Mavis carefully
takes. The man is Torstein. He’s betrayed Nathan and Audrey, “Now you promised
me a cure.” Torstein says looking to Mavis who’s cooing around the baby. She
looks to him, “Ah yes, I know where you can find the cure. Nathan Warnous has
it.”
Torstein is
upset utters, “Nathan” in shock knowing after this betrayal he won’t be able to
go back.
“He had it all
along.” Mavis says chuckling.
“I can’t go
back there after this.” Torstein says challenging Mavis, “You said they were
incompetent parents, that I would be rescuing her. You lied to me.”
“It wasn’t a
lie…you saw them, they are both so caught up in their jobs they would at some
point have forgot about her.”
“I’m taking
her back.” Torstein says approaching Mavis, but Mavis holding baby Danielle says
“You’ll do no such thing, won’t he baby Danielle.” She is joined by Jeremy who
holds up his hands causing Torstein to float in mid-air. Torstein is shocked as
he’s unable to move forward and Mavis says. “Welcome to Haven.” As she walks
out. And Jeremy crunching over glass walks over to Torstein and hits him square
in the head.
Kat with Daniel and Audrey
hears Mavis’s approach and says, “Good she’s here.” When Mavis enters with baby
Danielle Audrey and Daniel are alarmed, “She’s going to be so powerful when she
grows up.” Mavis says showing her desire to have that power for herself in the
lust in her eyes. Audrey pulls out her gun and shoots.
Nathan outside, hearing the
gunshot noises rushes in.
But Mavis, Kat, and Jeremy run
away from the site, the bullets are all on the floor, one in Daniel’s shoulder,
another in Audrey’s leg. Nathan bursting inside asks, “What happened?”
Audrey looks up to Nathan,
“They have her, they have Danielle.”
ACT
IV
At the glass factory
police cars are lined up. The whole building is taped up.
Stan at Nathan’s house reports
there was no struggle to Nathan over the phone who stands by the glass factory.
The cops find Torstein and
yell to Nathan and Audrey there’s someone there. They head inside.
Inside as Torstein gets up
from the ground and sees Nathan and Audrey upset he begins to plead, “She
promised me a cure I can’t live like this…never being able to feel anything. My
wife left me I couldn’t keep my job!”
Nathan furious punches him.
But Torstein frustrated says,
“I can’t feel it.” blood in his teeth. Nathan stands over him unsympathetic
saying, “She’s a baby and you gave her to a sociopath!”
“She said she was her
grandmother and you were neglectful but the cops were protecting you…”
Audrey fuming reaches out and
grabs Torstein’s nose. He cries out in pain.
“Audrey, let him go.” Daniel
says and pulls Torstein from her, “That won’t solve anything.”
Torstein looks at Audrey
shocked, “How come I can feel you but not him.”
“We know where she is,
Audrey.” Nathan says.
Torstein continues to plead,
“She promised me a cure, which you have.” He begs looking to Nathan pleading
with him, “Please, I can’t live this way.”
Nathan turns away from him
annoyed with him and walks away towards the exit.
Torstein pleads, “Please,
please.” He says falling over glass.
Audrey gets in Nathan’s way
telling him, “Just heal him, Nathan. Then he’ll leave us alone.”
Nathan looks to Audrey and
lets out a frustrated sigh. Her face pleading reveals she pities Torstein holding no ill-will, even though she’s not happy with him. Nathan gathers himself
and turns back around to Torstein he rushes towards him like he’s going to take
him by the throat. Torstein startles back as Nathan takes hold of him by the
cheeks and holding him up heals him. This takes love to perform so Nathan
struggles to do it.
Torstein surprised can feel
the glass in his legs digging into his knees is thrilled.
Nathan punches him hard.
Torstein nods, “I deserve
that” he says. Grateful he says, “Thank you.”
Nathan nods and rushes
outside.
Audrey looks to Torstein and
anger on her face says, “I don’t want to see you in Haven again.”
Torstein nods.
Outside as Audrey and Nathan
come out of the factory Dwight comes up with some maps “we’re blocking off all
the roads.” He tells them.
“We’ll fine her.” Daniel says
trying to reassure Audrey but not sounding sure.
“Yeah.” She pulls out her
phone.
Daniel looks confused.
“We had her chipped, just in
case.” Nathan says.
Audrey looks at her phone,
“She’s in district eight.” Audrey says looking to the board that lays out the districts
of the woods.
“Let’s get her.” Duke says
coming up behind them with his shot gun.
Torstein comes out of the
glass factory and watches them as they point to the board and gear up.
Daniel stops them, “We’re
going up against Mavis we need a better plan than burst in.”
“I want my daughter.” Audrey
demands.
“And we want her back safely.”
Daniel pressing caution. “We both would benefit from some attention” He says
referring to their wounds, his shoulder and her leg. “Believe me I know how
hard this is. But you have to take care of yourself. She won’t hurt her. She
needs her.”
“I’ll go.” James says, “I’m
immune from her magic, I’ll get her back no matter what I have to do.” He cocks
his gun and puts it in his holster.
Audrey shakes her head, “You
can’t go by yourself.”
“You need us.” Nathan remarks
and turns to Audrey, “And you need to get looked at.”
“James and I will check out
the area Danielle’s in then report back.” Dwight says.
Audrey frustrated relents.
At the hospital as Audrey and
Daniel sit on beds in a room to themselves young interns attend to the gunshot
wound in Audrey’s leg and Daniel’s shoulder, digging out the bullets.
Daniel talks
to Audrey sternly, “She came after me because she knew you would be distracted
if I was missing.”
“You’re my
father, I was worried.” Audrey says, emotional angst in her voice.
Daniel
clenching as the doctor takes out the bullet says, “It was an obvious trap and
you didn’t notice.”
Audrey frustrated says, “I
thought we could trust him.”
Daniel confronts Audrey,
“Either way you can’t be concerned about me.” Daniel says clenching his teeth
as a young intern digs out the bullet.
“What am I
supposed to do ignore it?” Audrey asks annoyed.
“You need to
put Danielle first.”
“I left her
with someone I thought I could trust.” Audrey cries emotionally shaken.
“This isn’t
helping.” Sam says walking in. Nathan, Duke, and Dwight are with them.
“Mavis won’t want to give her
up easily.” Dwight acknowledges.
Dwight and James come to a
cabin in the wood, heavily fortified. “It’s highly defensible.” He tells James.
James sighs, knowing this is going to be difficult. Dwight instructs James to
stay make sure no one leaves. Dwight heads back the way they came.
At the hospital, down the
hall, the man who was stuck in the front desk at the hotel is being released
from the hospital with a clean bill of health. Flirting with one of the nurses
he’s making her invisible with him, their hands intertwined but opaque he’s
able to move her arm with his.
She giggles,
“I have to get back to work.” She says.
He nods and hands his
discharge papers to the secretary. Suddenly he hears Audrey and Nathan’s
voices;
“Audrey and I have power over
them, if we go in together.” Nathan says.
“And I have the ring.” Audrey
reminds them.
In the
hospital room where Daniel and Audrey are being attended to, the shot in
Daniel’s shoulder and Audrey’s leg, “They know all this,” Sam says. “Won’t they
be prepared for an attack?”
“We can’t win against them.”
Daniel acknowledges.
“I’ll die
before they raise my daughter.” Audrey says.
“You might
die and they’ll raise your daughter anyway. I’d rather not have that.” Daniel
relays.
“We need to
get in there without being seen.” Daniel says.
Just then
Dwight enters, “That may be hard. They’re in a cabin set with traps.”
“I could
help.” Matthew, the man from the hotel says walking through the hospital wall into the
room.
Duke nods,
“That’s something.”
Act
V
At the edge
of the forest Audrey and Nathan come up to the cabin, hiding behind a hill they
watch the place, “That’s where she is.” Nathan says looking to the app on
Audrey’s phone. They watch as a squirrel wonders towards the cabin – SNAP – the
jaws of a trap close on him. Dwight and Nathan jump, they didn’t see it.
Audrey and
Daniel instruct the man who can walk through walls, dressed up as a hiker to
get in and get out with her.
He nods
understanding from their tone he could be in great danger if he doesn’t.
She hands him a bud to put in
his ear, “We’ll be able to hear you the whole time.” She says.
Dwight tells
him, “there are traps so be invisible the whole time.”
“And don’t forget to hold her
head” Audrey reminds him fidgeting.
Matthew nods and goes off into
the cabin, turning invisible. The shape of him moves with the light.
Nathan comes to Audrey and
puts his hand on her shoulders. They watch together.
On the other side of a cabin,
on a hill above them is Kat, she watches saying, “No you don’t.” She puts her
hand to her head and closing her eyes tries to reach out to Zara with her mind
when from behind her she’s knocked out. Torstein stands there with a crow bar.
He watches down below not seeing the invisible man, “That must be where you
are.”
Audrey and Nathan are behind
the hill in a hug.
Torstein picks up a bag of
supplies. He pulls out some rope, anchors it, and continues to climb down the
hill.
Inside the cabin Mavis is
watching the child as she sleeps in a crib. She warns Jeremy not to wake her.
Just then the Matthew,
invisible, enters the room staying very still he waits till Mavis turns to
leave.
Zara walks over and says,
“We’ll have the jet ready by morning.”
“I can’t believe we’re leaving
Haven.” Jeremy says listening from the kitchen.
‘We’ll still get to trouble
elsewhere and we’ll be back with her.” Mavis says referring to Danielle.
“Can we put tattoos on people
with the name “Haven”?” Zara asks, “Traveling around all the time I’d like to
see them again, what they become when we trouble them.”
With Mavis turned away from
Danielle towards Zara and Jeremy Matthew, invisible, turns to pick up Danielle
and run but his hands go right through her. He is unable to make her invisible
with him like he did the nurse. He panics walking through the wall into the
bathroom he whispering, “I can’t get her. She won’t become invisible.”
Audrey on the other side of
the ear bud by the hill they are hiding behind says, “She’s immune. You have to
get her out visible.”
Inside the bathroom of the
cabin Matthew is terrified, “I can’t do that. Mavis is in their watching her.”
Audrey frustrated says, “I’ll
be right there.” Taking off the head set she turns to move but Dwight stops,
“Audrey, you can’t.” Daniel behind him is ready to forcefully stop his daughter
if need be.
Just then Outside Torstein is
on the opposite side of the cabin as Audrey and Nathan. From his pack he throws
some balls towards the house, dozens of traps SNAP.
Audrey held back by Dwight
hears the snapping and James reports from his post up on a hill, “It’s
Torstein.” He’s going towards the house.
Torstein runs through after
the balls towards the cabin, safely making it to the front door.
Inside the bathroom the
Matthew hears Mavis explain, “They’re here.” Hearing people exit the room he
walks back through the wall into the room where Mavis and Danielle are. Mavis
looks over baby Danielle, “We’re going on a little trip.”
Torstein run through the
hallway as Zara and Jeremy come down the hall. He smacks Jeremy before he has
time to react and hits Zara in the back with his elbow. She falls to the
ground.
Panicking at the sound of a
struggle the Matthew, invisible, becomes visible. Shocked Mavis turns to
confront him and by impulse Matthew reaches out into Mavis’ heart and his hand
goes through her as if she’s a wall, he tugs at her heart. She struggles
holding her chest. The baby awakens and begins to cry.
Torstein bursts in and sees
what Matthew is doing but just for a second because he turns to Torstein who
holds a gun and he lifts his hands up, “Don’t shoot.” He pleads with Torstein.
Seeing Mavis struggle holding
her chest in pain, Torstein motions to Matthew, “Keep doing what you were.”
“I don’t’ know how.” He says
and grabs the baby.
Mavis still clutching her
chest, reaches out for the Matthew. But he backs away and Torstein smacks her
in the head knocking her out.
He tells the invisible man,
“Let’s go.”
They run past Mavis, Zara and
Jeremy in the hall, and out the front door.
From his post above James
reports “They have her, Torstein and Matthew have her.”
Audrey relaxes as does Dwight
holding her back. Nathan and Danielle are also relieved.

At the Gull Torstein holds
baby Danielle as Audrey and Nathan come up in the truck and get out hurriedly.
Audrey takes baby Danielle from Torstein and kisses her. She looks up to
Torstein grateful saying, “Thank you.”
“It was my fault.” Torstein
says as Audrey takes Danielle to the truck.
Nathan adds, “You didn’t have
to come back but you did. Thank you.”
As Audrey buckles Danielle into
her seat in the truck Nathan in a serious manner turns to Torstein, “That doesn’t
mean I forgive you or that we’re brothers.”
Torstein nods understanding
that Nathan is still very upset with him.
“Well I’m available if you or
this town ever needs help.”
Nathan nods unsure he’ll call
on him but grateful for the offer, “Okay.” Nathan turns and joins his family in
the truck.
Duke from inside the Gull
says, “Getting Nathan’s forgiveness doesn’t come easy….I should know.”
Torstein, “What did you do?”
“I made his trouble surface.
He couldn’t feel because of me.”
Torstein nods, understanding
that, that’s a big deal.
Duke adds, “What you did was
worse…a whole lot worse.”
“Has he forgiven you?”
Duke says, “Nathan…” he sighs
unsure how to answer.
Sam comes up from behind him,
“He’s getting there. They’re friends that rag on each other all the time, like
brothers. But I don’t know if he’s forgiven Duke.” She looks down sorrowfully.
Then looks up to Torstein, “Don’t give up. If you really want a relationship
with Nathan, don’t give up.”
“Should I stick around?”
“No.” Duke says adamantly,
“Not just because Nathan hates you but because this town is crazy…this was a
slow day.”
“The troubles.” Torstein says
under his breath understanding.
Duke nods, “You should
probably come in for a drink though.”
Torstein nods chuckling as he
enters the Gull.
Back at
Audrey and Nathan’s house with Danielle’s crib in their bedroom they watch her
sleep – she was completely unaware of the danger she was in.
Tears begin to stream down
Audrey’s cheeks.
“She’s
alright.” Nathan says.
“We got
lucky.” Audrey barks.
“We would
have gotten her back one way or another.” Nathan says determined, “You know
that.” He says wiping away her tears.
“That’s not
why I’m crying.” Audrey gets up uncomfortable talking about this she fidgets.
“My mom wasn’t wrong. We do neglect her. I forgot about her today when we left
her with Susie. I got so wrapped up in a case-”
Nathan takes
her in his arms, “That’s what makes you a great detective, you help people. The
troubled. You’re not a bad mother this is just new.”
“Not so new.
James…” she says relaying that she’s been a new mother before when she was
Sarah. “I left him with Dave and Vince going off to deal with the troubled.”
“But you
knew they would care for him. We just need to find someone for Danielle. You
didn’t have to worry about the witches then, this is new.”
She hugs
him. In the hug she tells him, “I’m sorry I got so hormonal at the hospital.”
Nathan
rubbing her back as he embraces her says, “You’re body has gone through a lot
in the last few months, it’s okay. I’m always here.”
Audrey hugs
him tighter grateful. She kisses him deeply.
